Anne lay on her bed in silence. The only sound was her breathing as she stared up at her ceiling. Glancing at the clock on her bedside table she realised her peace was not going be lasting long.

Five minutes had past in silence as Anne replayed her fight with Gilbert in her head. She thanked the lord that there were only a few freshman in that hallway and that the paparazzi were on lunch break.

why the fuck did i slap him? she asked herself.
i guess my rage was so strong and my stress levels were high so i kinda erupted. it was wrong. i did apologise, but not well enough.. well he shouldn't have been such an asshole and he shouldn't have gripped my arm and yanked me towards him.
Anne shivered slightly as the memory of him yanking her reminded her of her past trauma at the Hammonds.

Suddenly she snapped out of her thoughts as she heard a car door slam and the sound of boots storming into the house.
here we go.

"ANNE SHIRLEY CUTHBERT!!" Marilla shouted as Anne heard her footsteps get closer and closer before Anne's door was whirled open.

"What on earth do you think you're doing? Skipping school?!" Marilla raised her eyebrows at the red head who just sighed and sat up, turning towards her mother figure.

"I felt rough." She partially lied. Truth is that her spat with Gilbert had left her feeling sick, she couldn't cope being at school so she had to leave.

"Well...you have no right just walking out. Next time at least inform the nurse." Marilla huffed before walking out, muttering about what she'd make for dinner.

Anne flopped on her bed, picking up her phone that was loaded with notifications.

There were numerous other messages from everyone but Gilbert. Anne only really cared about one.

remember the halloween party tomorrow

Anne grinned to herself. This was perfect. Just right time to get wasted and forget about her worries. She pulled herself off her bed and flung her wardrobe door open staring around.

"Shit." she muttered. She had nothing even remotely creepy to wear.
Picking up her phone she quickly messaged the girls.

They all answered quickly saying yes, even Josie, which surprised Anne

Anne watched out the window excitedly as she awaited Diana to come pick her up. She was washing the dinner dishes when Diana's jeep pulled up with all the girls waving their arms out. Anna chuckled and called to Marilla and Matthew that she'd be back later before grabbing her bag and sprinting down the yard and hopping inside.

They blasted music and scream sang all the way to the mall, no one questioned Anne's slightly silent behaviour. Anne was just thankful that no one knew about that fight she had with Gilbert.

"I know about your fight with Gilbert." Diana whispered into Anne's ear so the others couldn't hear.
well fuck Anne thought.

"I don't wanna talk about it." Anne muttered back.

Diana sighed, knowing she wouldn't be able to get anything out of Anne, and continued to focus on driving.

"See you tomorrow night babe!!" Jane yelled from Diana's car window as Anne waved goodbye from her porch.

They had spent hours scouting through all the shops at the mall, it was fun and Anne found herself forgetting about the whole Gilbert situation. That is until she was dropped back into reality, or more literally, her porch.

Anne waved goodbye and trudged her bags indoors and away from the darkness that consumed Avonlea at 9pm.

Anne was very happy with her haul. She got a range of clothes and was ready to rock the halloween party tomorrow night.

Let's just hope she doesn't see Gilbert there.
