"So the paparazzi have died down a bit. that's good right Anne?" Diana attempted to get her in a more positive mood, but Anne wasn't swaying.
"i won't ever be happy until they're gone." She grumbled as Diana and her walked towards the canteen. Anne had slowly begun eating with her friends again, however she still barely talked to Gilbert.
It was just too much for her. The paparazzi is a huge problem, as well as all the social media attention she's getting, and Gilbert is just something she doesn't have the strength to deal with right now.
Anne and Diana made their way to their already packed table. Anne slid between Cole and Diana who were already diving into conversations.
"So there's a Halloween party at my house tomorrow night. You guys are all invited." Jane smiled warmly as the others cheered. Anne was actually genuinely happy, this was the kind of break from reality she needed.
Anne could feel his eyes staring at her from right across the table and it was getting on her last nerve. Turning and looking she met Gilbert's gaze, his eyes widened as Anne finally acknowledged his existence for the first time in weeks.
"Hi..." he mumbled shyly amongst the others mindless chatter.
"hey." she replied awkwardly. They both smiled lightly. The rest of lunch flew by, Anne and Gilbert talked non-stop. Anne didn't understand why she ever thought that talking to Gilbert would make it worse, it was nice to have someone to moan to.
They were in the middle of chatting about their favourite tv shows when Anne noticed someone entering the cafeteria. Her eyes widened in shock and she felt and whizz of excitement race through her.
"Jerry..." She whispered to herself as she flew out of her chair and ran across the hall and into Jerry's shocked embrace.
"Woah, Anne we saw each other this morning." He chuckled in shock.
"I didn't know you were coming to school!" She exclaimed in excitement.
"My parents finally let me off of homeschooling. I'm beyond happy." He grinned as Anne begun dragging him over to her table.
Her friends were already watching them in slight confusion. However Gilbert's face looked as dark as ever, Anne didn't understand why but she didn't have time for his melodrama.
"Guys, this is Jerry. He works at Green Gables and he's just stopped homeschooling and now he's coming here!" She grinned happily as the others smiled and started introducing themselves to Jerry.
"Is that Gilbert Blythe the popstar?" Jerry asked his eyes wide.
"Yup, but we call him Gilbert Blythe the idiot now." Anne giggled as she looked at Gilbert who looked 10x more angry. Anne was confused on why he was so pressed.
As Anne sat and watched Jerry get to know people she noticed that Diana was staring at Jerry with heart eyes, she couldn't wait to see how that will turn out. However she also noticed Charlie and Gilbert staring daggers into him.
"Do you boys have a problem?" Anne snapped as the conversations hushed and looked towards the two boys who were lowkey squirming over Anne's question.
"No, why dont you just focus on your boyfriend over there, he obviously needs your undying attention." Gilbert hissed as he got up and stormed out.
"Ignore him Jerry, Gilbert's just being a child." Anne huffed as she got up and followed Gilbert.
"Guess i just made him jealous." Jerry laughed at Gilbert's over dramatics as the others nodded.
"What's your problem?" Anne yelled down the hallway that Gilbert was stomping down.
He huffed and whirled around.
"Your boyfriend is my problem."
"Jerry is not my boyfriend, he's practically my brother. Why are you being so rude to him?"
"Well he was annoying me. But now he's like your brother i guess that it's okay." He mumbled as Anne felt her rage grow stronger.
"You are such a dick. Jerry did nothing wrong." Anne barged past him and walked down the hall, this wasn't the Gilbert she knew.
"Anne wait!" Gilbert grabbed her arm to hold her back. But Anne whirled around and slapped him hard across the face.
They both gasped in shock at what she just did.
"I'm sorry Anne."
"I'm sorry Gilbert."
They both said in synchronisation before turning different ways and running off.
this chapter was kinda rushed and very much not my best
