Gilbert got up, feeling a bit flustered.
He watched as Anne ran out of view and around the corner of the corridor, her auburn plaits flying behind her.

He sighed, hearing the murmurs and whispers of the teenagers around him.

"Is that-"
"THE Gilbert Blythe"
"He's hotter in real life"
"Omg he's fit"
"I'm fangirling!!!!"
"I love him!"

Gilbert just smirked at the gaggle of girls before walking away- desperate to find Charlie and his locker.

Gilbert found his locker and there Charlie was leaning against it.

"Hey mate!" Charlie grinned as they 'brO' hugged each other.

"Where have you been?" Charlie asked as he glanced at his watch.

"Oh I just took a walk through the woods before school, then I nearly got trampled by a group of girls but this cute girl with plaits helped me escape." Gilbert chuckled lightly as he reminisced at the previous moments.

"Oooh so you've already met a cute girl, damn I'm jealous! I bet she's already wrapped around your finger." Charlie nudged Gilbert playfully.

Gilbert laughed as she lightly shook his head.
"No not really, she's not interested. She basically ignored me. I had to chase her down, she's intriguing." Gilbert's eyes glazed over as he remembered the auburn haired girl from earlier.

"Blythe." A different more harsher but recognisable voice called out before Charlie could reply.

"Andrews." Gilbert responded coldly as the blonde boy approached, two fragile boys-who Gilbert presumed were Billy's 'goons'-followed behind him.

"Why where you walking with that orphan girl this morning?" Billy questioned, his eyebrows raised in judgement.

Orphan? So she's an orphan.
The mystery unravels.

"Wait a minute. The "cute girl" you were talking about was Anne Shirley Cuthbert!" Charlie piped in.

Anne Shirley Cuthbert. That name was plain but sweet- Gilbert preferred names that were plain but beautiful rather that eccentric.

Gilbert nodded at Charlie before turning back to Billy.

"Why not?" He asked in confusion. What's wrong with Anne?

"Because shes a loon!" Billy replied, nudging his goons who laughed along.

"Says you." Gilbert rolled his eyes.

"Hope you didn't get any asylum cooties," a chubby boy with rosy cheeks piped in as he rested his arm on Charlie's shoulder, Charlie briskly nudged it off.

"Shut up Moody." Gilbert shook his head.

Moody was a close friend of Gilbert's and he couldn't believe what he was saying about Anne.

"I don't care where she's from, a cute girl is a cute girl." Gilbert said firmly.

Billy and his gang walked off laughing about how Anne was the 'opposite of cute'. Gilbert couldn't disagree more.

He sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck. School is already a lot to contend with.

"So how was travelling?" Moody asked, changing the subject "did you see any Rocky Mountains?"

"Well they would be pretty hard to miss!" Gilbert laughed.

"Were they big?" Moody asked genuinely- Gilbert raised his eyebrow as Charlie facepalmed.

"They were mountains Moody." Gilbert chuckled as he wrapped and arm around Charlie and Moody- who stood on either side of him.

"Let's get to first lesson." Charlie muttered as they walked off.
