It was finally lunchtime and Anne couldn't be happier. She skipped merrily down the bustling hallway and into the cafeteria. Glancing around she spotted Cole, Diana, Ruby, Jane, Josie and Tilly all sat on a big round table in the middle of the room- Anne smiled in relief and waltzed over to them.

She squeezed into a space between Cole and Diana, who gave her warm smiles.

"So Anne, how was Gilbert this fine morning?" Cole winked at the red haired girl who replied with a gut wrenching glare.

"He was annoying." She said rolling her eyes.

"How can thE Gilbert Blythe be annoying? He's so charming and clever and sweet. Oh! And dreadfully handsome!" Ruby sighed- her eyes glazing into a dreamy state as she rested her chin in her hands.

"I know right!" Diana giggled along with Ruby. Anne raised her eyebrow at the two girls who sounded seemingly brainwashed.

"Ruby's dead gone over Gilbert- ever since before he left to go on tour." Jane held her hand to her heart. "How romantic!" She giggled alongside the others and soon everyone on the table had started a conversation about Gilbert Blythe.

Anne scoffed quietly to herself. That was definitely NOT romantic. Obsessive but NOT romantic.

"Anne you're so lucky you are his English partner. I would do anything to trade with you." Ruby smiled dreamily at Anne who just rolled her eyes in return.

"Believe me if we could swap I would."

"Anneeee." Diana nudged her bosom friend. "Gilbert seems to have taken quite a liking to you." She winked slyly as Anne pretended to urge.

"No way! Gilbert and Ruby would make a splendorous couple...right guys?!" Anne attempted to desperately change the subject back onto Ruby's obsession so she could keep her and Gilbert's names out of the same sentence.

"Speak of the devil..." Cole wolf whistled quietly as all eyes turned towards the cafeteria doors.

There walking in was none other than Gilbert Blythe, Charlie Sloan and Moody Spurgeon.

Ruby and the girls let out squeals as they watched the three boys get greeted by storms of people who were gushing over to them.

Anne let out a bleugh sound as she turned back around a busied herself with fidgeting with her hairband that was looped around her wrist.

"OMG they are looking over at us." Anne turned around to meet eye contact with Gilbert. His shimmering dark eyes gazed deeply into hers as a smile smirk creeped onto his lips. He nudged towards his friends and gestures to their table as they started walking over.

"Anne! He looked straight at you!" Diana whispered into Anne's ear who just groaned and buried her face into her arms that were slumped onto the table.

"Oh my gosh they are coming over!" Ruby screeched as she spun to Josie for a makeup check.

"Hello ladies." She heard a soft voice say.

"Hey Charlie." She heard Diana's voice stutter slightly as it increased in pitch.

Is Diana crushing on Charlie Sloane?

Anne smiled to herself as she buried herself further into her arms.

"Gilbert, it's nice to see you again!" Ruby giggled in a fake laugh as Anne glanced up to see the blonde girl batting her eyelashes way too much.

"Yeah nice to see you aswell Ruby." She heard his voice reply from behind her.

Scoffing, Anne buried herself back into the comfort of her arms.

Suddenly she felt two large hands grip onto her shoulders as she felt light breath against her ear.

"Something the matter Anne-girl?" Gilbert's husky warm voice whispered into Anne's ear as she felt her cheeks warm up.

Anne sat up quickly, hearing a groan of pain from behind where she must have headbanged Gilbert.

She turned around smiling at the boy who was rubbing his chin with a pained facial expression.

"The only thing that's the 'matter' right this moment is your presence Blythe." She spat as she stood up from the table and stormed off. She couldn't bear to be in the same area as those hooligans for one moment longer.
