Anne gripped her folder tightly as she speed walked down the deserted halls of Avonlea school. Her class had been let out five minutes early, which Anne was thankful for so she could avoid the rush and crowding of the halls when the bell rings.

As she sped down the hall she could hear everyone leaving her classroom.

"Anne!!" She heard Diana's voice call to her.

"Shirley!" She heard Josies high pitched voice yell from far behind her. Rolling her eyes, Anne ignored her. Shirley Cuthbert.

Finally she arrived to her locker. Pulling it open sharply she placed her books in it as she collected the ones necessary for her next lesson.

Slamming the locker shut, she jumped in fright as Gilbert was there leaning casually against the one next to hers.

His smirk made Anne have a strong desire to whack it off his face.

"Hey Anne." He said warmly as he looked her up and down, causing Anne's palms to sweat and her heart to pound quicker. Never would she have thought she would be having more than one conversation with thE Gilbert Blythe- not that his status was any excuse for how annoying he is.

"Blythe." She snapped coldly, glaring towards his cocky expression.

"I'm glad we get to be partners- aren't you?" He nudged her lightly as they began walking down the hall- towards a lesson they both shared.

"I didn't really have a choice." She muttered as he chuckled lightly.

"Cmon Shirley, you know you really wanted to be partnered up with thE Gilbert Blythe." He winked cheekily at her as he bit his lip in a grin.

"Cocky much?" She raised her eyebrows as she quickened her pace.

Gilbert would not relent as he quickened his pace as-well.

"Trust me Anne, I know I'm handsome- you do too." He winked yet again as Anne shook her head with a grimace.

"I dare say Mr Blythe I would much rather be paired with my best friend Diana instead of someone like you who's a pain in my behind and an ignorant narcissistic donkey."

"You break my heart Anne-girl." He smirked as a flush grew on her freckled cheeks at the sound of his new nickname for her.

"Also if I didn't choose you Mr Phillips probably would have put you with Billy or Josie." Gilbert reasoned. Anne shrugged, she knew he had a point, but she refused to give in.

"Would be better than you." She laughed as she nudged him back with more impact and ran off as the bell sounded.

Before Gilbert could respond she was gone down the hallway which was now full up with people and loud chatter. He sighed with a grin as he followed after the red head.
