Anne's head was slumped on her desk, her navy hoodie covering all aspects of her, her auburn wisps of hair flying out between fabric, the only signal that someone was under there.
Her eyes kept darting up at the large windows that were placed across the classroom, facing towards the front of the school.
When were they going to leave? they'd been here for hours.
Anne could see how the students were speed pasting them as they tried to shove their cameras and microphones in their faces, begging for a little taste of gossip.
The paparazzi had been a lurking outside school property for the past week since the news story came out. Anne had been luckily avoiding them, but it was a struggle.
Ruby and Josie had been ignoring her. No matter how many times she attempted to apologise for how it looked. Ruby had started hanging out with Moody, so Anne was hopeful this would blow over soon. However Josies dagger glare was still as strong as ever.
As for Gilbert....well Anne has been avoiding him, and struggling in the process. Not only is Gilbert a persistent boy, but considering how much fun they were having together- it has been hard and upsetting for Anne to avoid her friend like that.
The bell sounded and Anne flew out of the classroom, not waiting for any of her friends.
"Anne!" she heard Cole call, and she turned around stubbornly. Cole and Diana ran up to her, slightly panting.
"Hey little miss angsty," he teased as he pulled her hood back revealing messy hair and a grumpy scowl.
"Cmon Anne, i know it's hard but lying low isn't the answer." Diana reasoned as the two of them wrapped their arms around a hostile Anne's shoulders, dragging her towards the lunch hall.
"I think it is the best answer, don't wanna draw any attention." Anne huffed.
"Sis you are drawing just as much attention with this raggedy look, i mean halloween's in a week but you look like your already dressing up as A." Cole sighed as he glanced down at Anne's tatty leggings and grimy trainers.
"How you manage to insert Pretty Little Liars into every conversation still astounds me." Anne rolled her eyes as her bestfriend cackled beside her.
"Says you. You barely shut up about The Vampire Diaries, and don't even get me started on Greys Anatomy." Diana grinned as Anne elbowed Cole in the stomach.
Soon they arrived at the lunch hall doors. Anne halted, she hadn't gone in all week. That would mean having to face all those eyes watching her, more specifically those hazel ones.
"No no no, you are not bailing this time." Cole and Diana tightened their grip and dragged Anne in.
Luckily, Anne's disguise worked and only half the lunch hall looked her way. Everyone at their table turned and looked as Cole and Diana basically pushed Anne onto the seat, before they sat next to her.
"Anne!" Jane exclaimed in excitement. "We've all missed you sitting with us!" she smiled at Anne, who gave a weak smile back.
"Speak for yourself." Josie muttered as she glared at Anne. Anne ignored it but her fist was clenched.
Thankfully the attention was drawn off her as Ruby and Moody walked over, leaning into one another. They certainly looked like more than friends but they get all defensive if you ask so Anne and the others decided not to comment.
"Omg Anne you are here!" Ruby grinned, as Annes eyes widened in surprise. Ruby was ignoring her literally yesterday?
"Hi Rubes.." she smiled back, as Ruby and Moody sat down next to each other, Ruby looked completely smitten and everyone was even more surprised when she didn't even glance up when Gilbert sat down.
Anne froze when she felt his eyes on her. She wasn't going to interact, she refuses.
By now everyone had started into their own conversations, except Anne and Gilbert.
Gilbert has been trying his best to catch Anne so they could talk, she hadn't even been returning his messages.
"Uh hi Anne uhm how are yo-" Gilbert stuttered nervously but he didn't even get to finish before Anne jumped up and stormed off with a huff.
"She'll come around Gilbert, she's just super uncomfortable with all this paparazzi attention, you can't blame her right?" Diana looked at Gilbert with pity as he sighed.
"The paparazzi are ruthless liars and honestly i hate the fact Anne got dragged into it all." Gilbert groaned.
Meanwhile Anne sat in the library reading Jane Eyre for the billionth time, it was her only escape from her torturous reality. She just prayed the paparazzi would die down soon, she didn't know how much longer she could take.
