Exactly one week later Alex was finally in Paris. Because sometimes he could be a bit moron, he went to bed too late and only slept for about three hours. Unfortunately, he was one of those poor people who couldn't sleep on the airplane so he was pretty tired.
The flight lasted way too long for his liking and although he had traveled few times in the past, it was always the same kind of torture to him. Not because he feared being up in the airplane but because it was so boring. It didn't help that the seats were uncomfortable with no space whatsoever.
It wasn't the best possible start for a vacation but at least he got there! He went straight to Lincoln's home from the airport without taking his time to see the infamous Paris for the first time. He would have that later, he had two weeks and in the end, he was probably bored out of his mind and couldn't wait to go home.
Alex had known Lincoln Moore for almost three years and although he wouldn't say that they were best friends, he would miss him now that he was living in a completely different country.
"Bienvenue à la maison," (Welcome home) Lincoln said with such a clear American accent that no one would assume that he was French. Alex didn't understand a word of what he said but good for him for learning the language already. Or at least few words.
"Okay... good night!" He immediately went to lay on the couch where he closed his eyes and was ready for a nap. He heard Lincoln moving somewhere, maybe kitchen, but didn't have the energy to open his eyes to see what he was doing.
"I have to go to work tomorrow so you're gonna be alone until dinner. Is that still okay?" What he meant was that despite being his visitor, Lincoln couldn't get those two weeks off because he just started working there.
Alex would be alone five days a week until Lincoln got home from work which didn't bother him anymore. He had enough time to do all of that tourist stuff Lincoln had done too many times to count. Thank God there was another key because otherwise, he couldn't leave anywhere from the house since he wouldn't get back in.
They had the most time on weekends when Lincoln shouldn't have any work. The situation wasn't ideal and perhaps he could have waited for Lincoln to have more free time but it was impossible to tell when that happened because he just started his new job.
"Hey, don't go to sleep yet because it's still so early! Why don't you go take a shower and we go out? That way I can show you some places so that you won't be so lost tomorrow," Lincoln suggested but he ignored it.
Because of the timezones and the lack of sleep, Alex was too tired to care about anything he said. He just wanted to close his eyes and sleep! If he slept now and got the recommended eight hours of sleep that he never usually had, he would be ready for tomorrow.

It was a mistake. A huge, horrible mistake that he regretted as soon as he woke up. He had indeed fallen asleep almost immediately but he also woke up at 2am and hardly got any sleep after that.
Staying awake, he had been quiet because his idiot of a friend probably went to bed much later and slept till 7am. Okay, that was actually very smart but Alex would never admit that he was wrong. The way Lincoln looked at him on the breakfast showed that he knew it without saying.
Thirty minutes after that it was time to behave like a good housewife who gave her husband lunch for work and said goodbye but this time without a kiss. And then he was alone. The only question was what he was supposed to do now?
Since he had been awake in the house for five hours, it was finally time to go out. He went outside, looked around and went to get something to eat from the closest shop because somehow he was still hungry. Lincoln wasn't a very good host for making sure that he had eaten enough. Oh well, it's not like there was much to eat anyway since the fridge was almost empty.
