Before he knew it, three months had passed and Alex couldn't be happier. Of course he wished that there were more than two meetings after that but even without them, their relationship was doing very well. Amazing even.

Christmas and New Year's Eve came and went and although it sucked that he couldn't be with his boyfriend then, they both had a good time with their families. After celebrating both, the two of them had a date night in the evening where they watched a movie together while facetiming on the phone.

Fortunately, distance dates weren't the only thing they have done during these months. The number of times he had masturbated during that time must be a new record for him but doing it while hearing Gabriel's voice on the phone must have been one of the hottest things he had done.

All that time together and weekly date nights were the reason why the distance wasn't as horrible as he had feared. Obviously, it wasn't the same as if he was living next door but for now, things were alright.

Well, until today. Right now Alex was walking in circles at home while waiting for Gabriel to call him back. He had texted him if he had time to talk and that was eight hours ago.

Of course he tried again, repeatedly, and even called multiple times but nothing. This was very unusual for his boyfriend and he was worried sick, almost planning to fly there any minute to see him with his own eyes.

When his phone finally rang, he answered it in a second without looking at the caller. "Gabe?"

"Uhh... no. Just me, sorry to disappoint you," a familiar voice chuckled. Groaning, he hit his head on the closest wall in frustration. He didn't have time for this!

"Hey Harry," Alex sighed while checking out the time again. His best friend decided to annoy him even more and whistled, obviously amused by him.

"What did you do?" Alex could almost see him smiling at his home, laughing at his misery.

"Why do you assume that I did something? Never mind, it's not like that. I tried to call him but he hadn't answered all day!"

"Oh shit," Harry lost all of the humor he had in his voice after realizing that this was serious, "Maybe he's just busy at work? There could be a lot of customers at the bakery."

"Nah, not this late. And he usually texts me if he's running late like I do with him," he explained, feeling worse after hearing his own words. Those messages were sent to stop the other one from losing their minds in these kinds of situations.

"Don't worry, there are hundreds of reasons why he can't answer. Maybe he's at -" Alex interrupted him when his phone notified him about another call. Unfortunately, it wasn't his boyfriend but a second-best option.

"Gotta go, bye," was all he said to Harry before hanging up on him. Answering the call, he felt himself holding a breath. "Where is he, Élle?"

There was a long silence on the other side that lasted almost a whole minute. Then she finally answered, "Hey Alex, how... how are you?"

That was a stupid question to ask. Not because she didn't care about his well-being or that he had something to hide from her but because they had talked quite a lot after he left Paris three months ago. Now he considered her his friend and he hoped that the feeling was mutual.

Hell, they even had a group chat with Gabriel and Lincoln! He wasn't as active there as they were just because they talked so much! Now that he had gotten to know her better, he understood that the cold and rude first impression he had about her was wrong and she was actually a very lovely person.

"Stop it, you know what I want. I've been calling both of you all day!" Alex raised his voice and forced himself to calm down. Getting angry didn't help anyone and it would only piss her off even if he had a right to be upset.
