A question about another date was the last thing he had expected to hear. Gabriel was sure that after the last date's disaster, Alex had decided not to make that mistake again because he had looked hurt when Gabriel said all of those things about him.
He still couldn't tell what had come over him when he started to over-analyze Alex and his dating life, going as far as talking about his dead parents! Who did that, especially on the first date? He could never understand why Alex hadn't told him to fuck off and disappear from his life after only recently going in it.
Maybe that meant that he might maybe, possibly, kind of like him somehow? Enough to listen to all that and still go on another date with him? Of course Gabriel would watch his mouth and think twice before saying anything that would make Alex run away from him.
Before he shocked Alex with his speech, things had gone really well and he remembered being grateful that they managed to talk about everything, even the most serious ones. He had been nervous about revealing what had gone wrong at his marriage and how Alex would react.
Luckily, he had only gotten angry at Leo before telling more about their family's own tragedy and his sister who was one of the most important people in his life if not the most important. He would love to meet her some day as well as Julian and their daughters. Before that, he would have to go through another date with Alex and maybe a few more.
"Does your silence mean yes?" Gabriel blinked when he heard Alex's confused and yet hopeful voice. He looked away from the wall that he had been unconsciously staring for god only knew how long and smiled at Alex.
"Yeah, I would love to," he answered, feeling as his smile grew even more if it was even possible. Suddenly Alex laughed in pure happiness and without a word kissed him on the cheek. It wasn't where he wanted to be kissed but it was better than nothing.
"Great! Are you free for the rest of the day? I don't want to wait too long since..." I'm leaving in a week. Both of them were thinking about the same thing but neither wanted to mention it out loud.
It was clear that soon they would have to talk about what they would do once Alex was back in Michigan but not yet. Many would say that Gabriel was just in denial and didn't want to face the complicated situation but he just didn't want to ruin the nice moment. Maybe Alex was doing the same?
If it was up to him, Alex would have to man up and do the first move so that he didn't have to worry about how to start the conversation. Right now, though, he just wanted to enjoy the moment and worry about the rest later.
"Yeah, I don't have any plans. Now that I don't have work then I have no idea how to spend my days." For a couple of days, he could just be lazy and not do anything but he knew from experience that he couldn't do that very long. Maybe that would change that now he had Alex here to keep him company?
"Well, I can help you with that problem," Alex smirked and winked. "I have to embarrass myself and admit that I don't have anything planned. What do you want to do?"
"Well, it's technically my turn to plan our date," Gabriel answered, making him smirk and nod in agreement. He loved how they were both smiling so much today and feeling good about their relationship, almost like nothing could destroy it.
Now he just had to plan a date so good that it couldn't do that either and maybe the date would end differently this time, perhaps in bed without any clothes on...
"Can you roller skate?" Gabriel asked excitedly but his smile fell when he noticed how Alex looked.
"I don't know, I have never tried. I'm not the best skater on the ice, though, if it's any similar," he thought out loud and Gabriel couldn't tell how he was feeling about his suggestion otherwise. "The problem is that I don't have any skates with me."
