Taking a deep breath, Gabriel rang the doorbell while thinking that this was his last chance to escape. He didn't want to do that, the opposite, but it would be easier for both of them.
Although neither wanted to speak of it, the truth was that Alex would be gone in eight days. That was hardy enough time to get to know him, let alone to start a relationship with the man! Still, he couldn't help but try and see where it will go.
For the first time since his divorce, Gabriel was getting curious and interested in being with a man again. Alex was the first man he had wanted to get to know enough and now he was thinking of what it would feel like to be with him.
It took him over nine months to get here and he was still a bit nervous about risking himself and his heart. Still, he couldn't let Leo control his life too much. Not only for Alex but himself too, Gabriel wanted to see if he was finally ready to move on.
And if it didn't work out with Alex, at least he had tried. Now he knew that he was ready to get back to dating and meet new men, maybe even get a boyfriend.
The last time he called someone his boyfriend was five years ago before Leo became his fiancé. Gabriel couldn't help but think of how his friendship with Leo had turned into something more, something he had treasured the most before it turned out to be the one thing he needed to get away from.
Once upon a time, Leo had been his best friend and the most important person in the world. Because of that, he did the one thing he shouldn't have and started to compare Alex to Leo... No! He wouldn't start this evening with the thoughts of his ex-husband.
"Hey, beautiful!" Gabriel heard an all too familiar voice say. Blinking, he looked up from the floor that he had been staring at god only knows how long and looked up to those beautiful brown eyes with the longest eyelashes he had ever met. He was wearing clean black pants and a blue collared shirt. Despite simple clothes, Alex truly was the sexiest man he had ever met!
"If you want to compliment me, call me handsome," Gabriel rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the smile that was slowly forming go his lips. "You look good too. Almost good enough to eat!"
That was the most confident and bravest he had been in a long time and it was clear that it shocked both of them. Although he spoke only the truth, he almost took back his words that seemed to make Alex speechless until he finally answered and Gabriel could see how much darker his eyes had turned... from lust? Towards him?
"I'm warning you to think before you say something like that to me. There's still bed behind me if you know what I mean," Alex smirked with a flirty wink. "And you are beautiful. I knew that from the second I saw you when I compared you to a fairytale creature and I still think so."
For a moment Gabriel was sure that he had heard wrong but then he saw the soft and adoring look Alex had on his face while still looking incredibly turned on. The thought of Gabriel managing to do that alone, especially without doing anything, made him want to kiss Alex again and do some other fun things.
"Let's go," Gabriel mumbled while feeling how his cheeks turned red from the compliment. Immediately he heard Alex chuckling which made him blush even more which was twice as annoying.
"Have fun!" Lincoln surprised him with his presence and he turned to wave at the man who was working on something on his laptop. What surprised him even more was that despite wishing them to have fun, Lincoln's smile looked almost fake, not as genuine as before.
There was also a frown on his forehead as if he was also worried about them. Or just Alex? Did Lincoln think that Gabriel would hurt Alex? Although he understood his worry towards his old friend, it was enough for Gabriel's smile to disappear as he kept staring at Lincoln.
