Despite what he said, Leo had gone back to the AA-meetings where he could get more support from people who had gone through it. It just took him a couple of days and a lot of convincing from Gabriel and Élise.

Of course Alex was happy to hear that and he never wanted anything bad to happen to him. But honestly? He was getting tired of hearing about the man. He relapsed over a week ago and Gabriel still hadn't stopped talking about him. What happened had clearly scared him more than he had wanted to admit.

Even though he said that them being friends didn't bother him and so far he had been mostly fine with it. But hearing about Leo so much while being so far didn't make him feel any better. But it's not like he could say anything. His boyfriend was already stressed enough.

"She said that I have to propose or she'll break up with me! Can you believe it? I knew that I should have stayed single," Lincoln complained on the phone, waking him up from his thoughts.

Right now he was cooking in the kitchen. His friend had called and immediately started to complain about Élise who had suddenly broken up with him. From what he understood, she had tried to talk about the future and their plans and Lincoln had freaked out. That sounded like something he would do.

"She said that?" Alex was shocked to say the least because she wasn't one to say something so ridiculous and unfair.

"Well... not exactly but she meant it. She told me that I'm not even ready to talk about the future which is bullshit," Lincoln explained, clearly getting more and more pissed off. "You would think that after how her last engagement ended she would want to go slow but noooo, she's already talking about weddings and kids and country places where she wants to move!"

"And you don't like it?" Alex already knew the answer. Besides his move to France, Lincoln hadn't been able to make long-time commitments in his entire life and he was almost surprised that he hadn't broken up with Élise yet. And now it sounded like it was her who broke up with him.

"Thank god Gabe and Leo came then because she never fights around other people. Do you think it's because -" he was about to ask something but Alex had to interrupt him.

"He was with Leo?" Alex asked, feeling his heart skipping a beat. They were supposed to have an online movie date but he never answered. All this time he had assumed that he was just busy at work and hadn't had a chance to answer but apparently he had been with Leo all this time.

Biting his lip so that he wouldn't say anything else such as admit how hurt he was, he anxiously waited for Lincoln to say that he just heard wrong. Of course he did. Why would his boyfriend ditch him to be with his ex-husband? It made no sense whatsoever.

As if reading his mind, Lincoln hesitated a few seconds before answering, "I... uhh... yeah he was but... Did you have plans?"

Suddenly his voice changed almost threatening as if he wanted revenge for what Gabriel did to Alex. If he wasn't devastated by what Gabriel did, Alex would be more touched and thankful for having this kind of friend.

"Yeah," was all he could say because his mind was elsewhere. On Gabriel. And Leo. Together.

"Fuck him! Do you want me to say something? They just left but I can call him or even go there. Or do you want to do it yourself?" Lincoln asked, sounding like he would do it either way.

"No, don't do anything. It's fine, I'll talk with him later," Alex answered even though he would much rather eat slugs than talk with his boyfriend right now.

After talking more about Èlise and their break-up, Alex made up a plan. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn't mention their date or Leo at all, instead, he was going to see how long it would take until Gabriel remembered it. The fact that he hadn't called yet and apologized made him angrier by each minute. Was this how it was going to be forever?
