"Are you free later?"

The surprise was clear on his face when Alex asked that. Why was that, he had no idea. It's not like he had been very secretive with his intentions. Wasn't flirting a thing in France or was it just Gabriel?

He also couldn't figure out why he was still here. Not only in the bakery, even after thirty minutes of just watching Gabriel, but also with him in general. Besides some eye contact, there weren't any signs that the blondie wanted anything to do with him. Maybe friendship without any benefits but that wasn't what he had in mind.

Because Alex didn't know what he wanted from Gabriel himself, he was stressing over nothing. Obviously sleeping with him would be marvelous but he wasn't a man who forced someone into the bed. It still annoyed him a little bit that Gabriel hadn't reacted in any way when he had flirted, though. Maybe he should just try again in case he wasn't clear enough?

"Yes..." Why was Gabriel so hesitant when answering? Didn't he want to spend more time with him? If so, he could just say so. "But I have work until one so if you have something planned then you'll have to wait."

This was torture. Why was everyone working? Didn't they have summer holidays? It was the first of July and the perfect time to explore Paris together and both Lincoln and Gabriel stayed inside. Besides, he had promised to be evenings with Lincoln, the one he came to see in the first place.

It was his first day in Paris and Alex was already almost regretting coming here. He knew that he would be alone but it was boring. For so long he had thought that he wouldn't care to be alone here for two weeks but he should have known better. Or maybe he was just very impatient.

"But if it makes you feel better my holiday starts next week. Have you been sightseeing already?" Gabriel asked while looking around the small but very cute bakery. Now it was finally empty and luckily for Alex, that meant that he could finally sit with him.

It had been about thirty minutes since he found Gabriel here and he wasn't in hurry to leave. Gabriel didn't tell him to leave and give space for others so they just kept talking while he worked. Sure there were times when they had to put a pause to the conversation when there were customers and Alex was left alone.

That just meant more time to look at him being happy and smiling with other people while speaking french. He hadn't understood a word they said but it didn't bother him at all. There was just something very special to hear Gabriel speak in his mother language and he hoped to hear much more of that in these two weeks.

"No, I wanted to find you first," he answered before realizing how that sounded. In his brain, it was just another one of his flirty lines but when he said that out loud, it was only creepy.

Before he could fix the problem and prove that he wasn't a stalker, Gabriel smiled! Okay, he also frowned and looked very confused which wasn't a good thing but fortunately, he had also smiled. That had to be a good thing, right?

Poor Gabriel didn't seem to know how to answer as he opened his mouth and closed it before repeating it a couple of times. Before he managed to get words out, a door opened and he was preparing for another boring conversation he wouldn't understand but the man surprised him.

He was around his age and had short blonde hair. A woman was standing next to him and her hair was long brown and she had nice makeup, not too much.

"Hey, Gabe. We're back!" The man had a clear English accent and looked very excited to see Gabriel.

"I see that. You didn't stay even two years there, was it horrible?" As soon as he started to talk, Alex saw that Gabriel's smile wasn't as real as before and he didn't look like he liked those two very much.
