Gabriel had almost forgotten the man when he worked at the bakery. Sure, the American was very handsome and yes, he had a nice voice, a lovely smile and what seemed to be a very fit body under the clothes.
Despite all that, he didn't think much of the meeting because there were millions of people in Paris. Some could even be better-looking, not that he could think of anyone. What kind of magic water they had in the United States if everyone looked like that?
Because it was just a very short meeting and Alex was foreign who looked like he was in the city for the first time, Gabriel didn't think he would ever meet him again. At least, not so soon.
"Hey again!" A smile came to his face automatically as soon as he heard the voice and saw Alex standing in front of him, suddenly smiling like a ray of sunshine. Since it was still morning, there hadn't been many customers but Gabriel knew from experience that most people usually came later.
When people stepped inside, they would immediately notice a glass counter where were the sweets. The bakery had a normal brown floor and white walls where were different kinds of art.
Cabinets were all painted dark blue and he had picked similar color chairs while the small round tables' colors were closer to the floor. There weren't many of those, only five close to the huge windows that lightened up the bakery nicely.
"So you didn't get lost?" He knew without looking that at least one of those stalkers was his employee behind him who came here even before him to start baking. One sentence to a stranger and Dominique was practically planning a wedding already.
Much to her disappointment, he would never go through that again. Oh well, she along with others will have to find a way to survive that he would be single for many, many years. That shouldn't be very hard, though, since none of the bakery employees had a very successful love life either.
"Weeeeell..." Alex mumbled and looked away in embarrassment. "I kinda did because I didn't remember the name of your bakery. Even if I remembered it I wouldn't have been able to write it or say it so I just walked around and saw you from the window."
"So you had good luck," he smiled and felt awkward when he couldn't think of anything else to say. He was already freaking out while trying to think of what this man wanted from him. Could he be flirting...? God, hopefully not. That just meant that in time he would have to break his heart and that was already the last thing he wanted to do.
"Or maybe it was the fate that brought me back to you," Alex even dared to wink at him. Okay, that had to be flirting! Maybe it had been a while since he last flirted with someone but he knew what flirting sounded. "But hey, I learned a bit of French while I walked!"
"Oh?" Gabriel raised his eyebrows, both impressed and curious to see what he had learned since they saw each other. French wasn't the hardest language in the world for a foreigner but it still wasn't something you learned alone in an hour.
"Tu es une chouette," Alex said, looking very impressed with himself and Gabriel almost felt bad for ruining that. Almost.
"I'm an owl?" he asked innocently, hiding a laugh. Immediately Alex's smile fell and he looked horrified almost like he just heard that Gabriel had murdered someone. Okay then.
"I tried to say you're cool... You know, compliment you and not call you a fucking owl!" he mumbled, now looking away from him with a pout.
"They sound the same so no wonder you got confused. But thanks, I guess. You're cool too, for an American," Gabriel smirked before chuckling. At first, Alex just stared at him for a couple of seconds before his smile grew and he raised his eyebrows in curiosity.
