Chapter Thirteen - A Test of Quirks!
~
Everyone sat in their seats and stared at the front of the room, where their homeroom teacher stood.
Many had the collective thought of 'Is this really our teacher? He looks like a hobo!'
"It took eight seconds for you to quiet down. Time is a precious resource. You lot aren't very rational, are you?" Aizawa said, now standing at the front of the room behind his podium. "I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Pleased to meet you." He said, the same monotone voice greeting them. No one had the chance to say anything as he spoke again. "Quickly now," he pulled a gym uniform out of his sleeping bag and held it up, "change into your gym clothes and head out to the grounds."
By the time everyone was changed and at the grounds, Abby stuck with Shoji seeing as Kayla was playing around with Kaminari and Mina.
"A test of our quirks?!" Most of the class shouted, wondering what their teacher was thinking. It was only the first day!
Ururaka looked at Aizawa as she rose her eyebrows in worry. "What about the entrance ceremony?! Or the guidance sessions?!" She asked, her voice nearing shrill.
Aizawa merely frowned as he began to speak, his voice as toneless as always. "No time to waste on that stuff if you want to become heroes." He turned away from everyone before looking over his shoulder.
I didn't realize how dramatic he could be, Kayla thought as she felt her lips twitch into a smirk.
"U.A. is known for its "freestyle" educational system. That applies to us teachers as well," he said.
As he began to describe what they'll be doing, Abby began to feel her stomach knot in nerves. What if she didn't do good on everything? Everyone was going to be watching her, what if she messes up and they think she's weak? As the thoughts came barreling down on her mind, she felt a hand gently touch her shoulder.
"Calm down, it'll be alright." Shoji murmured, using his quirk so he wouldn't draw too much attention to them.
Before she could say anything, Aizawa's voice cut through the clearing fog in her mind. She sent Shoji a grateful look, though, before she turned to pay attention.
"Bakugo, how far could you throw in middle school?" He asked.
"Sixty-seven meters."
"Great. Now try it with your quirk, and do whatever you need to. Just don't leave the circle. Give it all you've got." He said as he handed Bakugo the ball, then stepped out of the way to observe.
Bakugo muttered something before winding up and throwing the ball, activating his quirk as he began to throw. With a loud explosion, followed by a shout of "Die!!", he threw the ball with all he had.
The device in Aizawa's hand beeped as he began to speak. "It's important for us to know our limits," he turned the device over so everyone could see the new score, "that's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of hero you'll be."
Kayla joined in on the people who were getting excited and antsy to use their quirks. "This is awesome! I'll blow all of you away," she grinned, chuckling as she cracked her knuckles.
