Chapter Fourteen - Battle Simulations! Part One!
"Let's get ready to rumble!"

The next morning, Abby was up and at it earlier than usual. Not that she gave herself a choice (or had one). Having been at the school, she decided to see Recovery Girl early to get her checkup. Her vision was foggy from the lack of sleep she'd gotten that night. As she navigated the desolate halls, she nearly ran into a few corners.
She finally reached Recovery Girl's office and stepped inside, rubbing her eyes in hopes to help wake herself up. The reason for the lack of sleep was most likely her shit sleep schedule, but also anxiety. Maybe it was from her dreams, or something else, she wasn't sure. She didn't remember what she dreamt about. Before she could say anything, Recovery Girl turned and saw her.
"Good heavens, what are you doing here so early?" She asked.
Only offering an awkward smile, Abby shrugged. Nothing came to mind for an answer to the question, what was she doing here so early? 'Oh, you know, nothing better to do,'
She was ushered inside by the small lady and sat on a bed. Then she was handed a whiteboard and a marker, one she recognized as the sign Recovery Girl used when her office was closed or busy.
"Did you sleep last night? You have dark circles around your eyes," she chastised as she inspected the younger girl's face, poking at the purple flesh. Then she stepped back and grabbed a few things. "After I evaluate your throat, we'll get you to sleep a little before school."

Kayla stood in front of Aizawa's apartment door, waiting. She'd knocked a few times now, but no one came to let her in like usual. It wasn't like them to not answer, especially at this time! Just as she went to knock again, one of the doors in the hallway opened. A tall, lanky boy stood in the doorway. He had shaggy black hair and pale skin, with deep-set dark eyes accompanied by bags underneath.
"They're not here." He said, his voice nearly throwing her for a loop. There was nothing unusual about it, but it wasn't nearly as deep as she thought it'd be.
"Oh..." Well, that's a bummer. "Thanks," she meant for it to sound genuine, but it sounded more like a question, "I guess I'll go now." She awkwardly shifted before leaving, coughing into her hand.
By the time she got to school, she tried to find her freckled friend. She was nowhere to be found! Well, by 'nowhere', she meant not in the classroom. It was the first place she knew to look.
"Good morning Kayla!" Came an energetic voice from the doorway, then some bounding footsteps came up to her desk.
She turned to see Mina bouncing by her desk, a large smile spread across her features. Kayla reflected her with her own smile as she turned to face her completely. "Good morning Mina!" She replied.
"What do you think we're gonna do today?" Mina asked as she sat on the edge of Kayla's desk. Her bag sat on the floor by her feet.
With a hum, Kayla drummed her fingers on her desk as she thought. After a moment or two, she shrugged and grinned. "No idea." She chuckled when Mina pouted at her, her cheeks puffed before she giggled and sat back, kicking her legs. They conversed for a while longer, the earlier concern for Abby now in the back of her mind.
