Chapter Sixteen - Hang in there, Todoroki!

~

So far, the battle wasn't going as planned. Well, at least how Abby planned. Both her and Ojiro were stuck in the ice beside the weapon, waiting for the inevitable defeat by the hero team. The footsteps of Todoroki were getting closer with each passing second and seemed to taunt them as it got louder.

Then Abby got a brilliant idea. The kind of idea that seems alright in theory, but horrible put into practice. An ant is pretty strong, right? It can lift to 10-50 times its body weight, so maybe, she glanced at the ice around her feet and took a deep breath. I don't want to compromise my right hand, so my left will have to do. She exhaled.

Crack.

Ojiro grimaced as he heard the sound, turning to look at his red-headed teammate. The ice around her feet was shattered, but by the way her lips curled into a grimace, he knew that crack wasn't just the ice. It became even more apparent when he saw her knuckles. The skin was ripped and little beads of blood began to form, but that seemed like the worst of it. At least, from what he could see.

Just then, Todoroki walked in, seeing that Abby was free. He sent a wave of ice toward her but stopped short when he saw how close she was to the weapon. If he was too reckless and hit the weapon, the villain team would automatically win.

Holy mother of All Might, that hurt, She barely dodged the ice that sent a wave of cold air when it stopped, and that was close. The open wound on her knuckles hurt, but she could manage. Something was broken, though, she knew that much. Just keep your eyes off your knuck- as she thought about it, she found her eyes unconsciously peeking at her left hand, feeling her stomach churn. -les... Ok... It's ok, this is fine. It's fine. She forced her eyes off the mess of blood and ripped skin, trying her best to forget about the bits of white peeking through. The punch wasn't that powerful, was it?

Abby ended up playing a game of cat and mouse with Todoroki, who was adamant to catch her so he could get the weapon. She turned out to be a slippery opponent.

As she stopped, hiding behind a formation of ice, she noticed the attacks had become a bit delayed. He must need to warm up before he can go all out with his ice again. The thought worked the gears in her head, turning them as her mind raced for a plan. Multiple came to mind, and she worked to find how they could play out. She moved around the ice, staying low to avoid being seen until she was by Ojiro again. When she was close enough, she decided on a plan.

Okay, let's do this.

~

Todoroki turned a few times, trying to find where the girl had gone. He should've taken into account how small the room was, and tried not to fill it too much with ice. Now, he realized, the room was working for the villain's favor. With multiple places to hide, he couldn't be sure where she could pop out of.

And he realized that was her plan all along.

The way she moved, the way her eyes flicked over the room, how she seemed to calculate his moves. He could see it now. How didn't he see it before?

Then he caught a movement from the corner of his eye. Something just above the ice that was moving. As he sent a wave of ice toward it, something smacked into his back. He knocked off balance, then another sent him to the ground. He staggered as he found his footing again, pushing himself off the ground, turning to see Ojiro in a fighting stance.
