After I showered in the girls locker room, Cole gave me his soccer uniform to change into, which was a big thing because he never let anyone touch his uniform. I smiled at a few girls who were also in there, I bent down tying off my converse and heard whispers.
"Do you think she's banging him?"
"Yes totally, she's wearing his jersey."
"Ashley is going to be so mad."
"How long do you think the slut's been sleeping with him?
Okay well I've had enough, "Yeah hi, you know I can hear you right?"
One girl had actually gathered some courage to speak up to me, "well it's not like anything we said was a secret you whor-"
"Lexi!" her friend nudged her, she mouthed something like 'she'll kill you'.
I wouldn't kill her, but I wouldn't go down without a fight either.
"Oops, it might have slipped my mind that she's part man," Lexi sneered. "Is a trans even allowed in here? When are you getting a penis made?"
As much as I wanted to hit her I couldn't help but be hurt. The guys always joked around that I was manly but I let it slide, because I wished it would remain that- a joke. The truth is I liked pretty clothes but just didn't think I'd look good in them. I liked guys but none had made a move. I enjoy the way most guys have fun so suddenly I'm no longer a girl. If I hit her now, I'd prove her point.
"You are just jealous that Cole even looks at her," said Thea popping out of no where. Bless your soul child.
"Thea!" they faked being happy to see her.
"Come on Care, you're too good for them," she said linking our arms and dragging me out. I managed to whisper her a thank you which she kindly returned with a smile. I'm glad Dylan ended up with her, she was a keeper.
"Can we keep this between us?" I asked. Cole was really overprotective, every time someone made me cry growing up he made their life hell. That's when I started to stand up for myself to stop him from getting into trouble, but that never stopped him. He's named himself my protector. All of his brothers and our crew usually stood up for me but Cole took things personally. If he knew about this he would go confront the girls and say some pretty horrible things.
"If that's what you want," she shrugged. I nodded.
When we stepped out the locker room, Cole and Dylan were standing there waiting for us.
"Where's the rest of the guys?" I asked.
"Ashley randomly got mad and went home. I sent the rest of the boys to buy us lunch, Aiden felt pretty bad about standing witness like an idiot and not helping you so he decided it'll be his treat," Cole frowned. I hope he didn't hit Aiden, he generally wasn't a violent person but when he was mad there was no controlling him.
"I'm fine Cole, it was just a prank. We've done plenty of those remember, let's call it karma," I tried laughing it off but he wasn't budging. I felt sort of bad about Ashley, I hope Lexi and her friend weren't right about the jersey and Ashley. She's always begged Cole of wearing like every other girl with a boyfriend on a sports team but it was his prize possession, until today of course.
"He's been acting weird all week, I think he's on his period," said Dylan.
Thea and I looked at each other before bursting into laughter. But Dylan was right, something was off about Cole.
Just then my phone rang, "hello?"
"Carl! It's Phil, something came up today, do you think you can come and work an extra shift after school?" he asked.
