It's been hard to sleep without Cole next to me. The bed felt empty, but I could not tell him that. I've been making my dad drive me to school every morning, once Dean realized he offered to drive me back and forth and I let him. Ashley was weird with me at first but we're good now. Her cheer squad have been driving her to school and back. Cole is always staring at me with these puppy eyes which are killing me. If it was a few years ago when I use to have a crush on him, things would of been great. Now things are different. It's been very awkward. We still sit together at lunch, but I sit on one end of the table and he sits on the other. Our friends have noticed something was up between us and even though they've asked we've both said nothing.

Dean has been coming over and we've been working on some designs for his car. I've been going to the garage a lot and modifying Dean's car. We were finally going to test it out today.

"You ready?" I asked Dean.

He nodded and I could tell he was excited.

I held the stopwatch up. "Okay, on your mark. Get ready. Go!"

The car screeched as Dean sped up on the abandoned road outside of town. It's been used as a race tract before so we used that to our advantage. The car was definitely faster and smoother than before. Dean and I were laughing at our success.

"Alright do it!" I said waiting for him to press the nitro. His flicked a switch and put his finger on a button. Go! He pressed it and we went flying.

"Woooo!!!!!" we both cheered as the car kept flying.

When the car started to slow down Dean started to press the breaks harder bringing it to a full stop. We looked at each other fazed, our adrenaline running high.

"That was totally awesome!" I yelled.

"Fuck yeah!" he laughed and I joined. Dean stopped laughing for a bit and looked at me funny making me stop too. What was wrong? He started to lean in and I knew what he was going to do. It was almost the same look Cole gave me, except Dean's wasn't as strong. He leaned in and gently kissed my lips. His hand now came to around the back of my neck before he parted my lips. I kissed him back of course. So this was what kissing was. It was nice. I'm surprised I didn't screw up anything.

Dean leaned back shot me a dazzling smile. "You know Care, I think I like you."

I raised my eyebrows at him sort of surprised. I mean don't get me wrong, I liked Dean. He was really fun to hang around with, we had a lot in common, he can be nice somethings as well. Not to mention he's very good looking. There was definitely an attraction between us.

"I like you too," I replied earning a wider smile from him.

"You know I never thought I'd date a girl," he said.

Wait, wait, wait... "Date? What does that say about us?"

Are we an actual thing? I mean we have gotten really close, but still.

Dean shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno, I guess I'd like to call you my girlfriend and actually mean it... if that's okay with you?"

Girlfriend? Me? Seriously?

"Yeah!" That was way too excited. Tone it down a bit Caroline. "I mean... yeah, sounds good."

The bet rang in the back of my head and I didn't know where we stood on that. We were doing great. If not as a couple but as friends.

"So, I wanted to tell you this over dinner but I can't keep it in any more," said Dean. What on earth can it be?

"I got the call earlier today, Jake and I are going to scout out the competition tonight. You want to come?" he asked. I could see his excitement so clear.
