Dean was driving me home after such a busy day at work. We had plenty of customers come in for little things like changing their tires or oil changes. There were a few bigger issues like the two cars that got into a bad accident, I was going to come do extra hours on them since they required a lot of work.
He parked his car in front of my house and leaned over to kiss my lips. I gave him a quick peck and said, "come over?"
He shook his head and showed me his grease-stained hands. "I need a long shower, plus I need to work on my English report."
I pouted my lips sort of sad. Dean and I have been spending a lot of time together. I don't know if it was because I missed Cole and needed someone to take his place or because I actually did enjoy Dean's company. Cole was such a big part of my life, I use to wake, breath, eat, sleep Cole. He was literally my everything, he was my whole life and now I have this void that I'm trying to fill in any way possible but can't. God I missed him.
"Raincheck?" I asked. I didn't like being alone.
Dean nodded and kissed my head. He leaned back and wrinkled his nose. "I think you need that shower too."
I gasped and slapped his arm. "Asshole."
Dean threw his head back and laughed whole heartedly. "You know I love you babe."
I froze and my whole body tensed. Did I hear right? Did Dean just say he loved me or was it just a figure of speech? I dared to look at Dean who seemed to be as shocked as I was.
"I didn't mean that," he said. Ouch. He shook his head. "No, I do, but not-"
So what on earth did he mean?
"I- I think I'm going to leave?" I said in a questioning manner.
Dean nodded his head. His lips were in a straight line so I couldn't read his expression. "I think that's a good idea."
I don't know why I was expecting him to stop me and at least explain things. I reached for the handle and opened the door. I sighed when I realized I wasn't getting anything so I finally got out. I slammed his car door and he just zoomed away. It's like he couldn't wait to get out of here. I stormed to my front door searching my backpack for my house keys.
"Caroline!" a female voice called for me. I turned around and found Mama T waving to me from her car. Looks like she just got home from the grocery store since she was taking out a few grocery bags. I ran over and started taking some from her.
"You don't have to do that honey, I'll just call one of the boys," she said but I could see she was happy with this little act.
I shook my head and offered a sweet smile. "No worries, just consider me as one of the boys."
I almost laughed at myself. I've always been one of the boys, it wasn't until this whole bet and transformation that I've started to be considered differently. Only Cole treated me the same after my transformation, it really showed me that our friendship to him was nothing with appearance.
"I always have hon, you're the daughter I never had," she smiled. "I still wish you'd be my daughter in law, but I would also be happy with whoever makes you happy."
Maybe I should ask her about Dean. "Mama T?"
She unlocked the door and mentioned for me to come in. I noticed Cole's car wasn't in the driveway so the coast was clear. I came in and took the stuff to the kitchen.
"What were you saying sweetheart?" she asked.
"How do you know you're with the right person?" I asked as we put the stuff away.
