Cole's P.O.V
Knowing Caroline was going on a date tonight unnerved me. I wanted her first date to be special and not with an asshole like Dean. She looked beautiful tonight like always and I didn't want Dean to get carried away. Sort of like how when she kissed my cheek before going out with Dean. I felt things someone shouldn't be feeling towards their closest friend. I've been feeling like this for a while and once Dylan pointed it out to me I realized how deep I am in this. I can't take it no more. It was wrong on so many levels. This would ruin our friendship. This would ruin Ashley. I felt like a cheater having these feelings towards Caroline. I thought maybe if I stay with her longer I'd be able to push aside my feelings for Care. I've tried pushing them away hoping they'd go away, but with every day that passes they only increase.
This wasn't fair for Ash, Care or myself.
I kept thinking what Dean and Care were doing and where they were so when Ash called to hang out I immediately said yes for a perfect distraction. Just as I was outside Ash's house, Care texts me the restaurant Dean took her to.
Don't do it Cole... Don't do it... Shit. Shit. Shit.
"Hey babe, how does Smokes sound?" I ask Ash as soon as she gets in the car.
She kisses my cheek before thinking about it. "Sure."
I frown slightly realizing I feel nothing like I do when Care touches me. God this is so bad.
I drive us over to the small diner and I start looking for Care. Her pretty hair catches my eye and I knew I wasn't going to be waiting for a waitress to seat us.
"Hey look, that's Care!" I try playing it obliviously but I'm failing miserably. Care and Ash are going to hate me for this, heck- I hate myself for this, but I can't help it.
"Cole!" Ash whisper slash yells at me.
"Care is that you?" I ask. Care's eyes widen before she looks at me and cringes. Well now I'm 100% sure I screwed up.
"Cole! Hey! What are you doing here?" Care said all perky but her eyes were telling me all the ways she was going to kill me. Perfect. I acted like I had no idea what she meant, which she wasn't buying.
"We came here on a small date," said Ashely giving me a sideways glance.
Trouble... Shit. Since I'm already this deep I might as well keep going. I sat down beside Care on the booth while Ash sat across from me giving me a questioning look.
"What did you guys order?" I asked looking down at their eaten plates that only had a few pieces of fries left.
Dean glared at me leaning his elbows on the table. "Burgers."
"Was it a cheeseburger? Care's favourite thing here is their cheeseburger," I said.
Dean looked at her as to confirm and Care just shrugged. That's right, I know Caroline better than anyone else, it's best he knows that.
"We were listening to your favourite song on the way here. Did you know her favourite band is Nirvana?" I asked Dean.
"No," Dean grumbled.
That's what I thought.
"Cole," Ashley warned.
I asked him another question. "Do you at least know her favourite colour?"
Dean glared at me before saying another no. Another thing I'm better than Dean in.
But he's on a date with her and your not. Shut up!
