"Hey Mama T, is Danny here yet?" I asked walking in to the Thomson's house.
"C!" Danny's head popped from the family room. He walked over and gave me a bone crushing hug. "I missed you kiddo."
"I think you broke my spine," I groaned. "But I missed you too you fart. Where's Angie?"
"She's putting Hayley to sleep."
Angie was his high school sweetheart, they got engaged through college and married right after before little Hayley came along.
"The booger's asleep already?" frowned Cole, he absolutely adored Hayley. They were sort of awe worthy when he played with her.
"Hey bro," Danny fist pumped Cole before they actually hugged.
"So what are we eating?" I asked.
Danny laughed and ruffled my hair, "mom's insisting she cooks for us because she wants to feel like she's still mothering me."
Mama T crossed her hands across her chest, "I thought you'd understand me more now that you're a parent but I guess not."
Danny went over and gave her one of his bear hugs and a big sloppy kiss. Mama T whipped off the slop with her sleeve.
"Sweet, but what are we eating?" I asked again.
They all shot me dangerous looks. Oops.
"Tacos sweetie, tacos," Mama T laughed off the tension. Phew!
"Sweet, need any help?" I asked.
"No! I mean it's fine honey. If it's okay I would like my kitchen to stay a kitchen even though your father is a fireman," Mama T put up her hands up as to stop me.
A few years ago, Cole and I wanted to bake a cake for mother's day... let's just say Mama T and my dad weren't so happy to have his fire department over for soot.
I apologized again and ran away to the family room with Cole who looked just as guilty as I did. Alex had his nose buried deep in some fifty ton weighing law book.
Cole smacked his head with a pillow, "hey nerd."
"Leave me alone Cole, go make out with your girlfriend," he said pointing at me. The Thomsons liked to think that Cole and I were in love and going to get married in the near future. Hilarious right?
"Hey baby, I think he's jealous don't you?" I asked Cole. "Should we show him some love?"
Cole smiled mischievously which only mirrored my smile. We both jumped on Alex wrestling with him.
"Human pile!" Zach's voice boomed before his heavy weight crushed us.
"Zach!" we all groaned.
"Geronimo!"
Danny's joined the human pile stopping my circulatory system.
"Boys, you're crushing her!" Angie's voiced brought me back from the verge of death.
One by one, the boys got up until I could see the light.
I rolled off Cole and Alex moaning on the floor.
"Care?" Cole's voice asked.
"Yo I think she's dead," said Zach. I kept my eyes closed to keep up with the theatrics. But some jerk kicked me, but I stayed put.
"Come on Cole, you're the golden boy, give her CPR," I heard Alex say.
"Pucker her up princess," Cole's voice sounded awfully close. I leaped up like a ninja.
