Beep! Beep! Beep!

"What the fuck?" you mumbled under your breath as a shrill beeping sound woke you up.

You turned around to see if Pete was still in bed but you quickly realized that he was gone.

You got up from the bed and looked around the basement area for Pete, but you were unsuccessful in your search. You started heading upstairs, thinking that he was probably in the common area of the house. As soon as you got to the top of the stairs, a strong burning smell filled your nose.

"Pete, what the fuck is going on?" you yelled as you made your way into the kitchen where the smell was coming from. You walked in to find Pete trying to swat away the smoke that surrounded him. A waffle iron on the counter signaled that he was trying to make breakfast, but obviously, it wasn't going as planned.

"Ummm, I may have burned every single waffle that I tried to make and now the smoke detector is mad at me."

You couldn't help but laugh. Pete looked so flustered but you found it so cute that he was trying to make breakfast.

"Here, let me help."

You turned off the waffle iron and climbed onto the counter so that you could turn off the smoke detector as it was still ringing throughout the entire house. You then opened some windows to clear the smoke out before going up to Pete and wrapping your arms around him, "I didn't know there were worse cooks than me."

"Yeah, I suck at cooking but I really wanted to make you breakfast in bed."

You smiled up at Pete, "That's so sweet. How about I help you make something and we can pretend that it was all you."

"Sounds good, Y/N," Pete laughed.

You helped Pete make waffles as there was still some batter left from his first attempt. After the batter was used up, Pete set the table while you poured two glasses of orange juice and got the syrup and butter out of the fridge.

The two of you sat down at the kitchen table and dug into breakfast.

"Thanks for your help, Y/N. I think I would have burned the entire house down if you weren't here."

You laughed at Pete's comment, "I appreciate the gesture. There haven't been many guys in my life that would make me breakfast after we slept together."

"Well, you deserve it."

You and Pete continued eating, the waffles being surprisingly good and worth the chaos that had ensued.

"So, I have to get to work soon but I can drive you to your place first."

It was the season premiere of SNL tonight and you could tell that Pete was nervous. Obviously, this wasn't his first time, he had been on the show for years, but he had told you that the first episode back after a long break was always anxiety-inducing. This is why you were surprised by his offer, assuming that he would want some more time to himself before getting to the studio.
