You put down your completed exam on your professor's desk and walked out of the classroom with a huge smile on your face. You were now officially done with all of your finals which meant that you could relax and enjoy winter break before the start of your last semester of college.
You walked out of the building and started walking towards the parking lot so that you could head home and get ready for your date with Pete. He was taking you out to dinner to celebrate you being done with finals and you were so excited to see him.
Technically, it was supposed to be girls' night tonight, but Aspen had a final project due at midnight that she had admitted to procrastinating on so the four of you decided to call the tradition off this week. You, Tessa, and Raven made other plans individually, sending good vibes to Aspen as she was going to be up all night working on getting everything done before the deadline.
"Y/N Y/L/N!" you heard someone behind you say. You turned around to find a man with a video camera and another one with a microphone.
"Yes?" you said, a look of confusion on your face as you weren't exactly used to random people addressing you by your full name.
"What is it like being Pete Davidson's girlfriend?" the man with the microphone said as he held it up to your face.
You tried to remain calm but this was your first time being approached by paparazzi and it was nerve-wracking. Ever since the article about you and Pete came out, you knew that this could happen at any moment, but now that it was here, you felt yourself start to sweat as you were scared that you might say the wrong thing and hurt Pete's career, let alone your own.
"Ummm, no comment," you said as you started walking away from the two men. Pete had told you to say this if you ever felt uncomfortable.
"Oh, come on, Y/N. Tell us about the date at Coney Island that you two were spotted at. Or the SNL afterparty that you joined Pete at after Saturday's show."
You just kept your head down and continued walking to your car. You hated how the first thought that you had was how people might perceive you as rude if they saw a video of you refusing to answer questions, but at the same time, the paparazzi didn't have any right to know about these personal things.
You were within arm's reach of your car when the man with the microphone asked one last question in an attempt to get a reaction out of you.
"Is marriage in the picture for you and Pete?"
You froze when you heard the question. What the hell was this guy on to think that he had the right to ask this sort of thing. You kept your mouth closed, wanting to give him as little of a reaction as possible, as you climbed into your car and slammed the door closed. You drove away without a second look at the two men, immediately bursting into tears as you started driving home.
"What the fuck?!" you screamed to yourself, the sounds of your sobs filling the car as you banged your hand against the steering wheel in anger. You decided that you needed to call Pete, it was the only way to calm you down.
