《Nico POV》

There are some perks being deaf. I don't have to listen to anyone. Also I have the excuse not to. But I do wish I could hear something. I've been deaf for as long as I can think of. Not a specific day or a specific time, more like a feeling. I was born without my hearing. My parents and sister are still very supportive of me, and love me for who I am. But this... this is something I don't want to do. I'm a transfer student. At my old school, everyone knew sign language and I wasn't bullied, but now? This sucks. I walk around the halls being extra careful of my surroundings.

SLAM! I fell on the floor. A girl started, what I think, was yelling at me? A boy held her back and she glared at me. I bowed and walked away before I felt a pull at my neck collar. I was yanked to the ground, coughing.

She started pointing her finger at me. I could only make out a few words "rude... apologize... dare... annoying... famous". I grabbed for my pen and tried to write something down. She slapped it out of my hand and I tried to get it again. It was a pen from my old friends. She threw me against the lockers and the boyfriend pulled her back. I pulled out my phone and typed on my phone. "I'm sorry." Looked at me weird. I typed again, "I'm deaf." She started laughing I guess and scoffed I think. I only looked away and grabbed my pen and paper. And started to walk away.

The boyfriend tapped me on the shoulder and signed "I'm sorry she's like this. I'm Will."

"You can sign?" I asked.

"Yeah, I learned for one of my half siblings. She's hard of hearing." He smiled.

"I think your girlfriend's mad you're talking to a deaf person." I looked at her. I already felt the stares towards me.

"She's not my girlfriend," he laughed ," I'm simply someone she wants to date though."

I tilted my head.

He laughed again, "so what's your next class?"

"Math I think" I signed back, "I'm Nico."

"Cool" he smiled.

I have to admit, I blushed a little bit and giggled, or what I think was a laugh. Will blushed too. I'm not exactly sure what he heard and I got curious.

《Will POV》

For someone who is deaf and quiet, their laugh is really beautiful.

"So how many siblings do you have?" Nico asked.

"Too many" I responded. He smiled and told me he only had one.

"Hey, I'm sorry that she said that too you... you didn't deserve it." I signed.

"It's fine, I don't even know what she said." But I could tell that he did know.

"Mr. Solace! Seems like you really can't have alone time after all," Mrs. Dodds watched me enter the room with Nico.

"Sorry, Mrs. Dodds, but he's the new transfer student... you know... the one that's deaf?" I frowned.

"Oh, forgive my rudeness, Mr. Di Angelo," Mrs. Dodds signed and asked me to guide him to his seat next to me.

"Sorry about that," I signed.

"No worries. I'm used to it anyway," Nico smiled. I blushed instantly. "You okay?"
