Okay, so this one shot is based of the book "Red, White, and Royal Blue" by Casey McQuiston. I highly recommend the book, I read it in like... 2-3 days (but I was working on summer assignments so it would have actually taken me like... a day or so).

This is also inspired by a couple hundred classical music pieces that I've been listening to recently. Something about classical music is very... nice. Kinda reminds me of like... royalty and stuff (even though I never actually had that kind of history bc I'm not from European descent- BUT ANYWAY).

Will is the prince of a country who is usually very bright. A kind king, lots of siblings in his family who love and care for each other, princesses are allowed to go for the throne, and same sex marriage is legal.

Nico's country, however, is based in a usually dark place filled with snow, half of the year. The king is strict, but kind. The only one who has succession to the throne is Nico, since he is a boy. Same sex marriage is legal, but still a little frowned upon.

There's magic... yayyy (ｰvｰ;)

There's no actual royal etiquette bc idk Royal etiquette and im too lazy to look it up, sorry. Also, the characters can do a lot of stuff that isn't canon like sword fighting and stuff, but yk, it's a one shot, and it's an AU, and I wrote it, and that's how I want it to go, so sorry if it's not "canonly correct".

Also, sorry I didn't post for like a couple days, I was stressing over my summer assignments and it was sooo bad. I mean i still have the final, but I can kinda take a break for now.

I don't know if I want to make it an angst or a happy ending so, I'm gonna leave it at a cliffhanger. Tell me what you guys want, okay?

At the young age of 10 and 11, Nico Di Angelo and Will Solace have always been at each other throats. Not in a literal sense, more of a... competitive sense. Mostly for the sake of their country, they kept score of everything they did. Tests, sword fights, even how much food they could eat. They both talked constantly, even though they were across the continent from each other. Letters delivered by teleportation.

Letters that evolved from competition to fake words of love in order to catch each other off guard. Both families were confused why they always laughed and smiled at the mail they got.

On Will's 18th birthday, The Di Angelo Royal Family visited The Solace's Royal Family and their country for the first time in years. The last visit was when they were both 13 and 14.

"Greetings, Your Royal Highnesses," Will walked down from the stair case of the guest manor to greet the family. "I hope you had a pleasant and safe travel here." He glanced at Nico for a split second. Nico cocked an eyebrow in response.

"Thank you for having us, Prince William. Happy 18th Birthday as well," King Hades smiled.

"Thank you, Your Highness," Will bowed and asked the maids and servants to put the Di Angelo Family's stuff away. "So, Prince Nico Di Angelo, what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Oh no!" Nico said exaggeratedly, "it is i, who am the lucky one to meet the one... the only!! PRINCE WILLIAM ANDREW SOLACE!" He then bowed deeply.

"Hah, you're really a cocky bastard, aren't you?" (Ikik, Will would never say that, but let's keep in mind they're rivals.... For now 😉) Will sighed.

"Oh please, My Love," Nico smirked, jokingly, "we are ever so careful to keep this relationship alive with our inevitable distance, no?"

Will rolled his eyes in response. "Of course, Darling,"  Will whispered in Nico's ear. He walked ahead then turned around to see Nico stared at him with disgust. "Ohh, what's wrong, my sweet? Flattered at the words?"
