I probably used this photo before but it's funny and cute and something to get u prepared for the rollercoaster ahead, wow this one will be long.
Also keep in mind that like I mostly wrote this at like... 12-5 am sooooo don't blame me if there's any mistakes (there will be).
I was gonna make a bakery AU, but then I was like "nah, I'm too lazy to write that" and then I ended up making the longest one shot I've made so far. So yeah instead of a fluffy, bakery AU, you guys get an angsty, depressy AU. What a turn, amiright???
Also sorry for the angst again. I said I wouldn't make another one, yet here we are. Oops. ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=┌(; ̄◇ ̄)┘
TW: major character death
OKAY THATS IT, GO IN BLIND MY DUDES THATS ALL OF IT👍🏼

When I heard we were in another war, I couldn't care less. I wasn't surprised either. I was scared for my family, yes, but my country tries so hard to get into more and more wars to ignore the demands and needs of the citizens. If anything, I feel bad for the opposing country. They constantly have to deal with wars my country throws at them, and for what? They always win, but they loose so much from it too.My family is poor, to say the least. We're farmers. A sad, but fulfilling life. I can't go to school, but I write my life away. I play games with the fellow farmer's kids. The oldest kids in the village has to go fight in the war with no say in it. It's mandatory. I'm not yet of age, nor am I what they want too. I'm weak and short. I don't want to fight either.
I'm not saying this to brag, but I'm good at fighting. I found my fathers old sword in the barn and I've been secretly training. It was like that black sword was made for me. It was dull, but I could cut through haystacks easily. I hid it back where I found it, so it didn't matter. My father refuses to look back at them.
Everyday I hear news of more and more villagers dying in the war. Both innocent and soldiers. I can't really do anything but listen. I remember one time where they came specifically to my house.
"We need your son to join us in battle and fight for our beloved country," the recruiter said.
"But he doesn't meet the requirements," my mother said.
"At this point, we can take what we can get," his partner replied.
"But he's a farm boy," my father said.
"He knows how to work hard, and that's what we need," they replied.
"But he's a sickly child," my mother lied.
I know what she really meant. She didn't want to loose another child. My older sister went to go fight. That's when they began to recruit women. After two months of her leave, military men came and told us of the bad news. Her entire platoon was wiped clean from the map. No prior training, it was like she was dead before she even left.
"I'm sorry, but you have no choice," the recruiter shook his head.
"...How long does he have to stay here?" My father asked.
"At most, 3 days," they said.
"...alright," my father sighed. The recruiters thanked them and moved to the next farm.
"Why did you do that to our child?!? Do you want to lose another?" My mother yelled. Sound really carries.
"We don't have a choice, dear," my father replied. I heard my mother smack him and walked angrily up the stairs.
"May I come in, Darling?" My mother's tone changed heavily.
I ran to my bed and grabbed my book. "Yes."
