Frodo and I walked to our favorite spot and this time I did not fall in the river, because he made sure of that. "If I could count how many times you've fallen in the river I would probably have all the gold in the world." Frodo teased, his blue eyes lighting up with mischief. I playfully punched him in the arm, "You're so funny." We both looked up into the night sky and looked at the stars shining over the Shire. It was a beautiful night, and it was a wonderful feeling.

"Frodo, can I ask you something?" I looked at him with shaky hands. "Yes, you can ask me anything." Frodo smiled his cute smile. "Do you ever feel there is something more out there, beyond the Shire?" I asked and then I continued to look out over the Shire. "Yes, but we have our life here." he replied. I shrugged awkwardly running my fingers through my curly hair. "I know, but adventure sounds so exciting, there's an entire world ahead of us waiting to be explored."

I smiled at Frodo with wonder, "We could go anywhere in this world just you and me." "We could go on an adventure together!" I exclaimed excitedly. I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly felt confident. Frodo looked almost smitten, and he put his arm around me. "I, Frodo Baggins, promise to go on an adventure with you, and it will be the most exciting thing in the history of Middle Earth." he held up his hand as he made his promise. "Thank you." I hugged him gratefully. I fell more in love with him in that moment.  I was wondering if he felt the same way. I had no idea that I was about to find out, but I was scared, because I didn't want to possibly ruin our friendship. Frodo and I had been friends since we were children. We would spend time together almost everyday. I didn't want to lose him.

Suddenly we were gazing at each other and the world felt right. Frodo touched my face tenderly and I touched his hand. "You're so beautiful." he smiled. Just then he leaned towards me and was about to kiss me! I leaned in to, feeling scared and excited.  Our lips met, and my heart was flying. We both looked at each other and giggled excitedly. Frodo, my dearest friend had kissed me. "Well, that was a very nice way of telling me your promise." I giggle breathlessly. I had never felt this feeling before, and I loved it! "I've been wanting to do that forever." he said with his hand still touching my face. I touched his face with a trembling hand. I smiled, feeling my face turning red. "What have you been waiting for?" I asked with slight flirting. "The right moment." he answered. "It's perfect." I leaned my head against his shoulder. "You're perfect." he kissed my forehead. "I don't want this night to end," this time I kissed him.

I went back to my house feeling like a bird in flight. I opened the door being careful not to wake anyone, because I knew my parents wouldn't be too happy about my staying out late. Just when I thought I was about to not wake anyone up, my mother was there in her nightgown and cap looking upset.

"Daisy Lightfoot, where have you been?" she had her arms folded in anger. "I was with Frodo." I replied sitting down in the armchair awaiting my punishment. "This late at night, some wild animal could have gotten you." she scolded. I looked at Mother apologetically, "Sorry, I'll be more aware of the time from now on." "It's alright." she said. "Mother, how did you know you loved Father?" I asked curiously.  She smiled, "I knew I loved your father the moment we started spending time together when we were young. He heard me singing with some friends and that's when he fell in love with me. He asked me to marry him right by the riverside where you and Frodo spend your time." she sat in another chair by mine. "Why do you ask?" "Well...it's because...Frodo kissed me!" I exclaimed happily. Mother grinned and she got up to hug me, "Oh, that's wonderful Daisy. He'll be a good one for you." "And if you marry him, you'll be in good hands." she added implying that she was talking about his wealth. I chuckled, "Mother, I love Frodo for him, not his wealth." I reminded her. "Good on you. I'm happy for you." she hugged me once more.

Just when things seemed happy, but things suddenly took a turn for the worse. Terrifying Black Riders rode through the night on evil looking horses, and they were looking for Frodo! Despite my parents protesting, I ran down the path back to the Bag End to make sure everything was okay. The door to the house was open and Gandalf was back looking scared. "Is it secret? Is it safe?" he interrogated Frodo. He scrambled to the trunk that was by one of the chairs and brought out a small envelope.

"What's going on?" I asked anxiously. Gandalf jumped startled and pointed his staff at me! I raised my hands in defense, and he put his staff down when he realized it was me. "My apologies Daisy. You can't be too cautious, especially in times like these." the old wizard said. "Times like what?" "The Nine are after the ring." he replied cryptically. "The ring?" I looked at what Frodo was holding. A small gold ring lay there in his hand with some form of Elvish inscribed on the inside. "It's a cursed ring forged in the fires of Mount Doom by Sauron himself." Gandalf said. I instantly got the chills at the name. Gandalf told me all about the horrible history of the One ring and how it's driven dozens of people mad and it's brought out the worst in them. Bilbo had found it and he was experiencing its influence. That's how he was able to disappear at the party...

I felt myself turn pale at what Gandalf had just told me. "W-What can I do to help?" I walked over to Frodo and he held me, and I could feel him shaking because of how scared he was.  "Help Frodo get out of the Shire, and get to Bree, and there you will find the Prancing Pony." he instructed. "Can you let my family know?" I asked while Frodo was packing some things. "Of course Daisy." he replied kindly.
Sam would be coming with us on our trek to Bree. Our lives changed drastically because of the cursed ring.

Frodo, Sam, and I set off on our journey the next sunrise.
