Return to the Shire

My friends and I returned to the Shire, and we were welcomed back with cheers and hurrahs. Everything still had the familiar and inviting presence. My family was at the head of the crowd waiting for me. "Daisy! Daisy!" My sisters cheered. I ran to them and hugged every single one of them. "I missed you so much." I said choking back tears. "Did you go on an adventure?" Mollie asked, her blue eyes wide with excitement. "Yes, and it was exciting." I told my sister. "What happened to you arm?" Jennie asked looking at the bandage on my arm. "A mean creature bit me," I said touching my arm. "Did you hit him?" Millie asked making motions with her fists. It was quite funny for a little girl to do. "I sure did!" I laughed. "Mr. Frodo also pushed him off the cliff!" I added. "Whoa!" my sisters shouted in awe.   I suddenly saw Frodo talking to my parents, and I got confused.  "What's Frodo talking to Mother and Father about?" "I don't know." the girls shrugged. "It must be important." I observed.

Later that night, Frodo and I went back to our favorite spot to reminisce. This time I didn't fall in the river, which he humorously commended me for. "I can't believe it's been two years!" I said in amazement. "It feels like a lifetime." Frodo replied. I held his hands, "This is my favorite spot in the whole Shire, because we told each other we loved one another for the first time."

He smiled, "It was the most wonderful night." Frodo kissed me on the cheek and then the lips.

"I saw you talking to my parents earlier, how come?" I asked curiously. Frodo looked at me and pulled out a ring from his pocket, it was a silver ring with a diamond in the center of it. "I was asking them permission to have you become my wife." he took my hand. "Daisy Lightfoot, I have loved you since the moment I first came to live here. You're so kind, brave, strong, and the most beautiful woman in the whole Shire. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you so much, will you marry me?" "Yes Frodo Baggins, I will marry you!" I accepted his proposal with happy tears. "I love you." he put the ring on my finger. "I love you too, so much." we leaned in and kissed each other. We had gone on the most exciting adventure in the history of Middle Earth. We saved it from the destruction that Sauron wanted to see happen. We brought peace to Middle Earth.

We were married a month later, and it was a small ceremony with our family and friends. Bilbo had come back from Rivendell to be there for the wedding. Sam performed the marriage, and Frodo and I were now married. Cheers erupted from our guests as we shared our first kiss as husband and wife.

Years Later...

Frodo and I are celebrating our six year wedding anniversary, and we have two wonderful children, Samwise Bilbo Baggins and Theodora Galadriel Baggins. We are a happy family and we often told our children of our adventures outside the Shire.

"You met elves?" Theodora asked us with wonder. "Are they impressive fighters as the stories say?" Samwise asked with intense interest. "Yes children, you mother and I met elves and they are as impressive as the stories say." Frodo told our children. "The elves we met live in two beautiful cities, Rivendell and Lothlórien." I added. "Will you take us there someday?" Samwise asked excitedly. "Maybe." I patted Sam's head. "Please Mother? Please Father?" Theodora begged, her blue eyes shining with sadness. Frodo and I looked at each other with smirks, because we had a surprise for them. "Come outside, we have a surprise for you." Frodo said getting them excited. "What is it?!" Theodora asked. "You'll have to wait and see!" I exclaimed. We led our children outside to the boat where Gandalf, Legolas, Galadriel, and Gimli were waiting. "Did someone say they wanted to go on an adventure?" Frodo presented the boat to Theodora and Samwise. The two children both looked at the boat in awe and started cheering, "Yay! We're going on an adventure!" "Climb aboard young hobbits!" Gimli motioned for them to come. All four of us got on the boat and we sailed off to Rivendell. "I can see the both of you in them." Gandalf said approvingly. "Thank you." Frodo and I said at the same time. He took my hand as we watched Theodora and Samwise look out onto the waves and were pointing out everything they saw. Legolas was teaching them how to shoot an arrow from a bow, and Galadriel and Gandalf were telling them stories. "What a life." I put my head on his shoulder. "A wonderful life." Frodo kissed me.

I was grateful Frodo and I were able to pass our love of adventure on to our children. That was remembered: "Home is behind, the world ahead."
