We began our trek through the famous Misty Mountains (Caradhras). The weather was horrendous, because there was a massive blizzard. We could barely see through the snow. I pulled my cloak over my face to protect myself and I clung onto Frodo's hand. I could barely feel his hand because of the cold breeze beating us down. Legolas, Strider, and Boromir were up ahead while Gandalf hung back with us. "By the time we get to Mordor we'll probably freeze to death!" Sam said over the wind, he was trudging through the snow. "Don't worry Sam, we will get out of this storm before we know it." Gandalf assured him. "Well we'd better hurry before my legs turn to ice!" Pippin complained. "Strider, how much further?" I shouted over the wind. "Half way there!" Strider shouted back. "CUIVA NWALCA CARNIRASSE; NAI YARVAXEA RASSELYA; TALTUVA NOTTO-CARINNAR!" A voice echoed through the mountain. "What was that?!" Frodo asked in fear. "It's Saruman! We need to get off the mountain, now!" Gandalf yelled.

Soon we were running for our lives as rocks tumbled down the mountain threatening to consume us. It was difficult to run down the mountain with snow falling beneath our feet. Suddenly I was about to fall underneath the snow and I almost dragged Frodo with me. I screamed in terror, but thankfully Legolas picked me up and Strider picked up Frodo. We got away from the worst of the avalanche before it could take any of us. "What do we do now?!" Boromir shouted. "The Ring Bearer decides where we go from here." Gandalf said. Frodo's eyes widened when Gandalf volunteered him. "We'll go through the mines." he told everyone. "It's settled." I said taking his hand. The entrance into the Moria mines was up ahead and we ran inside before anything else happened.

The mines of Moria were dark and eerie. A small lake surrounded a platform that held a door that inscribed a tree and there were words written in Elvish. It was so quiet that we didn't dare make a noise. "The Walls of Moria!" Gimli said in awe. He tapped the wall with his axe, "Dwarf doors are invisible when closed." "Yes Gimli, their own masters cannot find them if they're forgotten." Gandalf replied. The old wizard examined the door with his staff and looked at the Elvish markings.

Frodo and I lingered back watching him work. Boromir was looking at Frodo in a way that terrified me greatly. Something inside me told me that he wanted the ring badly, and it seemed like he would do anything to get it. "The Door of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak friend and enter." Gandalf read. "What do you suppose that means?" asked Merry. "If you are a friend then you can open the door." Gandalf said as if it was the most obvious thing ever. "How do we know?" I asked. "There's only one way to find out." the wizard raised his staff and attempted to cast a spell. "Gate of the elves open to me!" the blast from his staff just fizzled out and faded away.

"Nothing's happening." Pippin observed innocently. Gandalf just looked at him annoyed and I couldn't help but stifle a giggle. Frodo smiled at me when I giggled. "Just had to diffuse the tension." I said between giggles. He gave me a quick kiss and looked as if he figured something out. "It's a riddle, say friend and enter. What's the Elvish word for friend?" "Mellon." Gandalf said embarrassed. The door opened and inside was a skeleton. "This isn't a mine, it's a tomb!" Boromir said in horror. "We need to get out of here!" suddenly I felt something tighten around my foot and pulled me away. I had just been grabbed by a tentacle! "HELP ME!!!" I screamed as I flew through the air in the creatures' grasp. I was being swung wildly by the creature and I was starting to get dizzy. "DAISY!!" Frodo shouted in horror. Legolas drew his bow and arrow and attempted to shoot the creature. "We'll save you!"

Strider and Boromir rushed into the water to save me, and they were able to get me free in time. "Into the mines!" Gandalf ordered. We raced out of the room just as the creature tried to grab for us.

The real danger was just up ahead.

In the darkness of the corridor, I thought I saw a pair of dead gray eyes looking at me.
