After arriving at the castle (which took most of the day) and telling the others what happened, Knuckles tries to heal Rouge but she's not so cooperative.
Rouge: (Hisses) That hurts!
Knuckles: If you held still then, it wouldn't sting as bad.
Rouge: If you didn't run off, none of this wouldn't happen.
Knuckles: If you didn't startle me then, I wouldn't run off!
Rouge: Well, you should've been in the West Wing aka my wing!
Knuckles: And you should learn to control your temper!
Rouge just huffs and Knuckles tries to heal her but decides not to.
Knuckles: Try to get some rest.
Sonic: Thanks, Knux.
Sticks: We're really grateful.
Knuckles: Why do you even care about her so much?
Sonic: We've looked after that bat her whole life.
Knuckles: And she cursed you, though. Why? You didn't do anything.
Sonic: (Looks down ashamed with the others and sighs) You're kinda right there, Knuckles. You see, when Rouge lost her kind mother, her cruel teacher took that sweet little girl and twisted her up to be just like him. We did nothing to stop him.
Sticks: Let her sleep. (Leaves the room with everyone except Knuckles)
Knuckles was sad to know why Rouge was so cruel and mean and how her childhood was sad. As Rouge slept, she dreamt of her mother on her deathbed.
Young Rouge:
Days in the sun
Where my life has barely begun not until my whole life is done, will I ever leave you?
Rouge's teacher then take her away from her mother and she wakes up saddened. Meanwhile, Tails was lamenting on seeing his wife again as he plays music for Shadow and Sticks.
Tails:
Will I tremble again to my dear one's lovely refrain?
Sticks and Shadow:
Will you now forever remain out of reach of my arms?
Meanwhile, Sonic was taking Marine to her room for bed.
Sonic:
Oh, those days in the sun; what I'd give to relive just one.
Undo what's done and bring back the light
Marine: Night, Papa.
Sonic: Goodnight, Marine.
Sonic then kissed her forehead as Sonic left the room to let her sleep.
In Knuckles' wing, Cream was singing of how she hopes for the spell to be broken as Knuckles wonders of the current events he's in.
Cream:
Oh, I could sing of the pain these dark days bring the spell we're under.
Still it's the wonder of us I sing of tonight...
Knuckles:
How in the midst of all this sorrow can so much hope and love endure?
I was innocent and certain, now I'm wiser but unsure.
Knuckles and (Cream):
I can't go back into my childhood
(Days of the past)
One that my family made secure
(All those precious days couldn't last)
I can feel a change in me
(Oh, hold me closer!)
I'm stronger now, but still not free
Knuckles went to check on Rouge the next morning as the castle staff watches.
Castle Staff:
Days in the sun will return, we must believe as lovers do.
That days in the sun will come shining through...
Knuckles: Why? Why did you go save me after what you did earlier?
Rouge: I... I don't know. I just couldn't leave you to be eaten by those wolves.
Knuckles: Knuckles.
Rouge: Huh?
Knuckles: My name is Knuckles.
Rouge smiles at this knowing that he could break the spell after all.
