Chapter 22
We spent an hour at the coffee shop bago niya napagdesisyunan na ihatid ako sa Alea Resideces.
"Nga pala, daan muna tayo sa pharmacy. May bibilhin lang. As you can see, wala akong gamit na dala kaya wala rin sa akin ang gamot ko," saadko kay Peace habang pinapaandar niya ang kotse niya.
"Gamot?
We're still in Cavite. Though I think it's not a good decision to live here after I was banished from my own home.
"So, sino ang kakilala mo rito sugar?" Peace asked as he manuevered the car to the parking lot.
"I bought my own place at 16, a year ago actually. Through savings. Hindi ako mahilig gumastos kaya I decided to put my allowance in the bank. Matagal ko rin 'tong pinag-ipunan. Roughly a year and half."
He successfully parked his car. He immediately went out and opened the door for me.
I smiled inwardly at his thoughtfulness. A gentleman indeed.
I asked the receptionist showing her my I.D.
Naramdaman ko naman ang akbay ni Peace. "Nasa'n ba susi mo?"
Ginalaw ko ang mga balikat ko causing his arm to fall from my shoulders. Nanghingi lang ako ng spare keys in case of emergency. Better be safe than sorry.
Peace immediately caught up with me.
"What floor, miss?" He asked.
"5th," I timidly said without looking at him.
I took a glimpse on him and saw that he nodded his head while pressing the button.
After a few minutes, the elevator door opened revealing the hallway where my unit is located.
Kaya kaysa maburyo kami roon kakahintay, nauna na akong maglakad palayo papalapit sa unit ko while the other persona is following me like I'm some kind of his master or what.
"It's small.
"What do you expect? A luxurious 2-storey unit? Ako lang mag-isa titira rito kaya 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom is already enough."
"As you say so. 65 m² unit is okay. Not spacious enough, but still acceptable," I heard him murmur.
I had my unit fully furnished noon pa, kaya hindi ako magkakaproblema diyan. Only some appliances aree missing. Like refrigerator, kahit mini ref lang okay na. Ako lang naman titira.
Speaking of refrigerator, wala pala akong groceries.
"Peace, just stay here alright? I'll buy some groceries."
"You mean right now? Bukas na it's already very dark. Kung nakakalimutan mo ang oras, it's past 10 in the evening already. Kung makakahanap ka man ng bukas na mall, goodluck," He said as he sat comfortably on my sofa.
"Anyway, I'll go na. I maybe like this but I'm too respectful and too conservative. Good night Leigh."
The next thing I knew, narinig ko na lang na sumara na ang front door. He left already. Napangiti ako nang maalala ang sinabi niya.
It's rare to find someone with an attitude like his these days. I must say he impressed me a lot.
Nagmuni-muni pa ako ng ilang minuto bago napagdesisyunang magpalit ng pantulog. Habang nagpapalit, I can't help but to feel a little victorious.
Kung kanina sinasabi ko na wala akong lugar, I must say now that finally, I have a place I can call mine.
