------------

You had already been sent to Madam Pomfrey for your fever. Although at the time your fever wasn't as bad. It was manageable. Should be gone in a couple of days. Or at least that's what you thought.

Pulling the covers off your bed, your friend raised an eyebrow at you. "I don't think what Madam Pomfrey gave you the other day is working." They said bluntly. Struggling to open your eyes you grunted.

"What time is it?" You ask quietly.

Checking their watch they turned back to you. "12:10pm." They answered. Thank God it was Saturday.

"Mmm... okay." You mumbled in response before pulling the duvet back over you and rolling over. That in itself was a strenuous job. Your whole body ached.

Without a second thought your friend walked around your bed to the other side. They didn't speak but pulled the duvet off your body again. This time you glared at them.

"Y/n." They sigh. "You promised James you'd meet up with him. You need to get up." They explained.

"That's not until later." You grumbled.

"It is later." They pointed out. You just stared at them. Your mind couldn't process anything. "It's a good thing James came here anyway." Calling out to him, your dorm door opened to reveal the Gryffindor.

"Hey." He greeted in his usual cheery manner. Your friend smiled at him before the pair turned to you. James' eyes growing wide with concern.

"Woah, you okay?" He questioned as your friend left the dorm to give you two some privacy.

"I'm fine." You mumbled. Although as you did that you winced in pain from moving your body to look at him. James couldn't deny how ill you looked. Your face was slightly flushed and although you seemed cold you had a layer of sweat building on your forehead.

"You don't look it." He argued. Sitting on the edge of your bed, he gently pressed the back of his hand to your forehead. "You're burning up." He commented with concern. You didn't speak. Thinking for a moment he came to a decision. "I don't like it, we're going to Madam Pomfrey."

You're eyes perked up at the mention of the nurse's name. "No." You said a little too quickly. "I don't need to go to her."

"Y/n..." James trailed off. You knew James was right that you should really go back to her but you knew what would happen if you did. And quite frankly, if you could put off having a needle injected into your arm for a blood test then you were going to take it.

"I'll... I'll eat something in the hall James. I'll be fine." You were adamant not to go back to the Medical Wing and James could tell. If this was one of the Marauders then James would have dragged them by the ear to the Medical Wing but because this was you, he wasn't going to argue. At least not until he could find out why you are so determined not to go back.

------------

James kept close to you as you both took a slow walk from the y/h/h dorms to the Great Hall. It wasn't that he needed to stand that close to you but after you nearly tripped over your feet, he thought it would be best if he stayed close. That way if you were to trip again he could catch you.
