Imagine: The reader has abusive parents and doesn't say anything about it until the marauders walk by and see her getting abused in diagon alley by her family. Once the family leave, the Marauders help the reader to James' house and get the her to confess what happened. Peter, Sirius and James leave Remus to confess how he feels about the reader.

Warnings: physical abuse.

A.N: This was definitely an interesting one to write as it brought back memories of my own father. I've also re-read and re-worked this one multiple times so I hope it makes sense. But regardless I hope you guys enjoy this one.

------------

It's the last day of term and quite frankly you didn't want to leave. You've been dreading going home since you found out a week ago. You were safe at Hogwarts, no one could hurt you. Your family couldn't hurt you.

But not today.

Your family had decided how you'd be spending the first day of your christmas break. It would be spent with them in Diagon Alley. You had no choice in the matter. You found out a week ago when your mother wrote to you explaining what you'd be doing for the duration of your stay during Christmas.

Prehaps they've changed.
Prehaps I'm overthinking this. You desperately repeated to yourself trying to calm your fears. But not even that seemed to do the trick because deep down you knew it was a lie.

You'd ask the Marauders for their comfort but then they'd only want to know the reason for your distress so that was out of the question. No one knew of your family dilemma and quiet frankly you'd like to keep it that way for as long as humanly possible. It's just too much trouble to let people know. At least that's what you keep telling yourself.

Everything had gone swimmingly, all things considered. No patronising comments or belittling of any kind. No comparisons to your older brother or even physical abuse. Everything was.... okay.

But like everything, it had to come to an end at some point which lead you here. Walking with your family through Diagon Alley they seem to surround you, walking either side and behind you. You were trapped in the middle.

"Why can't you be more like your brother?" Your father questioned out of the blue. You didn't speak but continued to look straight ahead. When you did look at him you simply shrugged.

"Why don't you try harder? You know if you applied yourself better you could actually make something of your life." You mother piped in. You couldn't see your brother's face but you sure felt the glare he was sending your way.

"I do try." You mumble in response refusing to look at them. The moment those words left your mouth your arm was grabbed and you were pulled into the entrance for Knockturn Alley.

The Marauders were walking past the alley, having just come from Quality Quidditch Supplies for James, when they heard your mother's voice. "No. You don't try." She accused standing in front of you.

"Isn't that (Y/N)'s mum?" Peter asked as James pulled them behind a shop so they could listen in without being seen.

"It's not just her mum. Her whole family is there as well." Remus pointed out, his heart slowly breaking when he caught a glimpse at your feared expression when your brother shifted slightly.

"We need to do something." Sirius chipped in noticing Remus' face but also recalling the memories of his own family doing the same to him.

Glancing at his friend, James sighed. "We can't. They hold high positions in the Ministry. It'll be their word against ours. The best we can do is wait until they leave."
