•·················•·················•THEY HAD RUN, AS FAST AS THEY COULD WITH A WEAK Klaus Mikaelson. Marcel could be behind them at any second. They were late as it is.
They emerged from the drainage pipe, to see Kol and Rebekah stressed out.
"Nik!" Rebekah immediately embraced her brother, whilst Kol pulled Keziah into his arms.
"Oh, thank god." Kol breathed out in relief, having Keziah in his arms.
He held her at arm's length, giving her a quick once over and his eyes narrowed in on her neck where there was dried blood.
"Tell me he didn't..."
"Stop your whining." Keziah whacked his chest playfully. "I'm not going anywhere, I siphoned it out."
Keziah smiled as he pressed a loving kiss to her forehead. He was proud to call her his soulmate.
"Come on, lovebirds! Marcel's right behind us. Go. Go!" Hayley interrupted their moment.
They headed towards the car, only for Marcel to be blocking the path. "Actually, I'm right here."
"Oh, piss off." Keziah groaned. She wanted him out of her sight for what he did to her.
"You shouldn't have come back none of you."
"That's what family does. We fight for each other." Hayley said.
"Yeah, so I've heard. Though it didn't really work out for me, did it?"
"Oh, for god's sake, you were never a Mikaelson, get over it." Kol stressed causing Keziah to smile. "Don't you have a city to run? Vampires to boot out of town?"
Marcel stepped forward ready to attack Kol, only to be blocked by Rebekah. "If you want to kill one of us, you'll have to kill us all."
"Hey, don't push me, Rebekah."
"Then get on with it. Let's end this once and for all."
"That's enough." Even though Klaus was weak, his voice still sounded strong. "That's enough, Marcel, you've won. New Orleans was our city once. Now it's yours. For good."
"Is the great Klaus Mikaelson accepting defeat? Or is this all just another distraction?"
"Neither. In fact, despite your appalling behaviour, I'm offering you a chance at peace. Attempt to kill us all, and you will be making a mistake. Any who survived would no doubt return to seek revenge, bringing our enemies back to your city in our wake. And even if you did manage to eliminate us all, one day my daughter would come for you. And her daughter after that. On and on for all your days. An endless cycle of violence you will bring upon yourself. Or... Or we leave and we never come back."
"After all that time buried in a hole, you still got some nerve. Yeah, well, you stand there with a straight face and try to sell this like it's your choice. But here's the truth. I could kill all of you right now. And tonight, I would sleep like a baby. hell, that's what you would do. You've destroyed more people, taken more lives, ended more families than anyone who's ever lived. All because you can. But here's the other truth. Despite being raised by you people I am nothing like any of you. In fact, I'm proud as hell I'm not a Mikaelson. I beat you all without turning into you. And now you can live the rest of your lives knowing that the only reason that you exist is because I am showing you mercy. Now go. And don't ever come back."
"Bitch, please. I beat you." Keziah mumbled to herself, just loud enough for Kol to hear as they all walked to the car.
•·················•·················•
It felt like they had been driving for hours by the time they made it to the safehouse. Keziah had curled into Kol in the car, refusing to fall asleep. Even though that's all she wanted to do. No-one chose to speak as they listened to music quietly playing from the radio.
When they did arrive, Hayley immediately showed them to some rooms where they could all rest.
Keziah had dived onto the double bed, relishing in the softness of the mattress. Kol followed behind her, pulling her smaller body into his where she fit perfectly. They fell asleep within seconds.
And they were the first ones up the next day. They had gone down to the kitchen, Keziah jumping onto the counter and sitting comfortably as Kol grabbed them blood bags from the fridge.
He stood in between her legs, a very familiar position, they always found themselves in as they quenched their thirst.
"Bloody hell, I've missed you, doll." Kol groaned as he placed his hands on her waist, bringing them ever so much closer.
"I can't say the same...I did have Kai to entertain me." Keziah cheekily grinned, but pressed her lips against his as he frowned.
He pulled away after a few seconds. His head was burning with questions. They never did actually get to have that conversation.
"Darling, what actually happened?" One of his hands had moved to her cheek, comforting her as he felt her body freeze.
"I, uh." She was at a loss for words, but needed to talk about it. If it was with anyone, it would be with Kol.
"You were gone, and I was slowly losing it. Rebekah said a few words that threw me for a loop. Next thing I knew, I was pregnant. I didn't know how to feel. There was you on your deathbed telling me to move on and maybe name a kid after you." She let out a small laugh through the tears that had fallen.
"Then there was Kai. He provided the distraction I needed so I went to Mystic Falls. I promised Nik I would be back, and I was going to. We were chilling at my house, Kai of course figured out I was pregnant, the alcoholic he is, and healed me once I accidently hurt myself for the child."
"Good." Kol hummed.
"You know, you would have liked Kai. He's just as crazy as you." Keziah smiled, thinking of her friend. "But anyway, Damon showed up and just sliced Kai's head off and next thing I knew, he was drowning me. I woke up and knew what was happening, so I got my revenge. I went after the Mystic Fall's lot, but then I realised that-" Keziah started to choke on her tears. She couldn't stop them falling now.
"I realised that, when I died, so did the, so did our child."
Even Kol was crying now.
"I was distraught and I didn't know what to do, everything was just too loud, so I did the only thing I could."
"You turned it off." Kol whispered.
She nodded her head weakly. "I didn't realise how much I wanted it, until it was gone."
Keziah's body shook with sobs as her head rested against Kol's chest. He pulled her tightly to him, but even he didn't know how to comfort her when he was just as broken.
