AFTER KOL HAD AWOKEN FROM HAVING his neck snapped by Damon Salvatore, he proceeded to walk Keziah the short way home. It had been a quiet walk, the both them stuck in their thoughts. Keziah wanted to know what he had done to get his neck snapped by Damon. What if something worse happened, what if someone had worked out how to kill an Original? She couldn't lose him.
They reached her front door and she was fumbling with her keys. She needed to ask the burning question.
"Kol, what did you do?" She softly asked. She didn't want an argument; the evening had been going so well.
"Darling, you don't need to worry." He reassured as his hand rested on her cheek.
"No, Kol. I want to know."
"Keziah—" He never calls her by her name.
"No, listen to me. I don't care if you're a maniac like everyone calls you. You're my maniac. You're my soulmate. We're in this together. You wanna go kill a bar full of people. Go ahead, you're a vampire. It's in your nature. Just don't shut me out like I'm a porcelain doll that's gonna break at everything. I won't." She vented. He was not going to win on this.
A smile graced his face. "I must have won the lottery when they picked you to be my soulmate, darling." He took her hands in his and rubbed circles. "Rebekah and I wanted to have a little fun with her date, but she backed out. So, I introduced myself and next thing you know my neck is being snapped."
He looked so innocent with his wide eyes and that smile. But she knew Kol was the devil on the inside and she liked him for it. "Well that's your own fault then." She teased.
Speaking of the devil, she couldn't contain the smile as she received his message.
Meet me at the grill. Nik is a boring sod.
Kol
You don't need to put your name at the end, I know it's you.
I'm on my way
He still didn't really understand the concept of phones, but he was getting there. It was funny to watch him grasp at today's technology. Keziah had managed to reach the grill within 10 minutes after driving. She rarely used her car these days.
She walked in and headed to the bar where Kol and Nik were sat. Kol immediately gave up his stool and let her take it. His arms wrapped around her waist from behind and he kissed her cheek. "Hey, doll."
