"Is this good, love?" Helena asks you. She gestures into her guest room and you nod. You're still kind of in shock that you're in freaking Helena Bonham Carter's house.
"Well, I'll let you get settled in then," she says, turning to leave.
"No," you burst out impulsively, "keep me company?"
"I'd love to," she walks over to sit on the bed. You put your suitcase on the bed and begin to unpack. You and Helena are able to lapse into a conversation, easier than before now that you're both more comfortable with each other. You continue unpacking and your comfortable conversation continues, but then she says something that especially makes you think.
"Y/n, do you have a boyfriend? Back at home in New York? Someone of your beautiful and talent must make the boys line up". You snort, at well, every single thing in that sentence.
"Actually, I like women. I'm gay and single."
"Oh shit," she said angrily, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to assume. I'm very sorry, I just" You could tell she was going off on herself completely, and you placed a hand on her arm to stop her.
"Seriously, it's fine, don't beat yourself up over this," she looks at you in the eye when you speak. Your hand feels natural on her arm, and she's warm. Your gaze in her eyes linger.
"Anyway," she begins, breaking the silence, "I really should give you some time to settle in". You're disappointed that the moment is gone, you could have stared in her eyes forever.
"Right, okay. Well, um, thanks?" you say very awkwardly, trying and failing to pretend that moment didn't just happen. She walks out the door, leaving you alone with your many gay thoughts.

The next morning, you wake up to the smell of pancakes. Walking downstairs, you find Helena making them in the kitchen.
"Morning," you say, rummaging around to find a coffee mug.
"Good morning love. Looking for a mug? They're in the cabinet next to me," she moved over slightly so you could get in. Her calling you "love" gave you such butterflies, jeez. Even with her moving over, there's not much space as you reach into the cabinet. She's so close to you that you're able to breathe her in. You can't describe it, but she smells comforting, and you can feel the heat radiating from her body. How badly you want to touch her again. However, you really don't want to creep her out. You get the mug quickly, then as you pull away, you notice her looking at you. Your eyes meet hers. Just like three times the night before, you're stuck in that awkward yet absolutely amazing staring when nothing else matters. You're about to reach your hand out to touch her face but stops as she breaks the silence.
"Y/n, could you sit down? I wanted to talk to you about something". You nod and give yourself a stern internal talking as you walk to the table. Seriously, stop this. She is STRAIGHT. She is not interested. Is she hot? Hell yes. Will she ever be yours? No. Harsh, but true. You need to stop this pattern of crushing on unattainable people. She's just being nice. Don't ruin your friendship.
"So, what's up," you ask, trying to be the picture of calmness but ruining it immediately, "was it my snoring? Oh god, I'm sorry about that. This is embarrassing. I completely understand your decision to kick me out. That's okay. I hope we can still be friends at work. I'll go pack". Stopping you, she puts a hand on your shoulder. Your eyes widen, and she takes it away.
"Y/n, I'm not kicking you out," she laughs, "no actually, quite the opposite".
"How do you mean?"
"Well, if I'm embarrassing you please stop me. I don't want to ruin our friendship".
"Helena, you could never. I'm happy to be your friend. Honored, really".
"Y/n, last night a few times, and just now, there was this moment. I don't know how to describe it. I've never felt like that with a woman before. Am I crazy or was there something there?"
"There was definitely something there. I've had a crush on you since forever and since meeting you...I think it turned into real feelings".
"The thing is...I've never been with a woman before. I don't want to lead you on if it's just me being confused". She sighed, annoyed at herself.
"There's only one way to find out". You get up from the chair and walk over to her. You close the distance between you both, then look her in the eyes, making sure it's okay. She nods, and you press your lips against hers. She hesitates for a split second, then kisses you back. Her lips are warm and move hungrily against yours. You feel your breath catch in your throat as you move your hands across her body. You pull her closer and her hands are wrapped around your neck. She breaks the kiss only after needing to catch her breath.
"Well?" you ask, your eyes searching hers.
"I think I have feelings for you," she says simply and you blush.
"I know this is a big change for you. I'm willing to wait. Or we can just take it as slow as you want".
"I don't want to wait. But can we take it slow?"
"Of course. If we go on a date tonight, is that too fast?"
"No, that's perfect. I get off of work at 7".
