"I'm kind of nervous. Meeting new people stresses me out," you admitted to Helena, who was sitting next to you in the back of the limo on your way to another day of filming.
"My dear, they'll love you," she insisted, taking your hand, "plus, you're the lead. Remember that". You took a deep breath. "I guess so, but I'm still nervous".
"I can meet them with you," she offered.
"Really? Thank you," you said, leaning over to kiss her.
You got to the set a few minutes later. As soon as you got out, the director Julie ushered you over to where three people were standing.
"This is Penny, she'll be playing your best friend," Julie introduced.
"So nice to meet you," Penny exclaimed, hugging you. After a surprised moment, you hugged her back. "You too," you told her.
"And this is Axel," Julie said once Penny let you go, "he'll be playing your male love interest. He nodded at you, saying "hey". You said "hi" back. As nice as he seemed, you didn't want to kiss him. Unfortunately for your lesbian self, your character was bi. Then Julie introduced who would be playing your girl love interest, someone named Raven. You turned to her with a smile, about to greet her, but you were caught off guard by her sizing you up. You grew uncomfortable as her eyes scanned you. Once she was done, she turned away, looking back down at her black polished nails.
Your heart sank. You weren't expecting everyone to love you, but you hoped you'd at least be friendly with the people you had to kiss on-screen.
"Just walk and get to know each other. Please be back in an hour," Julie said before walking away.
"I should go too," Helena said, then leaned into to whisper, "good luck". You thanked her, and she kissed your lips quickly. "Nice to meet you all," she told them, "have fun! Y/n, I'll be in your trailer". You nodded, letting go of her hand as she started to walk away.
"You two are so cute!" Penny gushed as you and the rest of your costars started to walk.
You blushed. "Thank you. She's so great".
"I'm a big Harry Potter fan, and even though her character scares the daylights out of me, she seems really nice in real life," the girl said.
"Well, her character scared the heterosexuality out of me," you joked.
Axel burst out laughing. For some reason, you found his laugh really funny. A second later, you were all laughing hard, minus Raven. You had a good feeling about them.
"Are you guys dating anyone?" you asked once the laughter died down, making conversation.
"I just got engaged!" Penny squealed, holding out her hand with a ring on it.
"Wow congratulations!" you exclaimed.
"Doesn't he have great taste?" she asked as you looked at her ring.
"Yeah, it's really pretty," you told her.
"I'm sure you and Helena have a much bigger place, but you'll all have to come over and hang out sometime".
"I'm down," Axel said.
"Yeah, that'd be fun," you agreed, "and I doubt we do, we're just renting a place. We usually live in London".
"Oh I've always wanted to go there!" she gushed.
"Well if any of you are ever in the neighborhood, you can stay with me and Helena," you promised.
"Be careful, I might end up stealing her," Alex joked.
"Hey!" you protested, swatting him on the shoulder.
"Sorry, I've had a crush on her ever since Fight Club," he admitted.
"So did I," you told him.
"Nah, I won't steal her, you guys seem cute. Can you set me up with one of her friends?" he added jokingly. It was at that moment when you realized that you haven't met any of her friends. Is there a reason for that? What if she's embarrassed of me?" you thought. You tried to shake these feelings away, blaming them on your habit of overthinking. Of course, she wasn't embarrassed. I'll have to talk to her when we get back, you noted mentally.
"Uh, sure," you told Axel, realizing you never answered him since you were caught up in your own head.
You all walked in silence for a little bit, before Penny started talking. She wasn't the type to be quiet for longer than a few minutes.
"So, how was everyone's audition. Mine was super stressful, this is my first movie," she explained.
"Really? Congrats! Trust me though, auditions don't get much easier. Not that I'm an expert or anything, this is only my second". Raven scoffed, and you almost forgot she was there.
"What?" you asked her.
"You didn't audition," Raven said.
You laughed. "Yeah, I did".
"Oh please, even if you did it was already rigged. I saw those pictures of your girlfriend and our director at a wrap party," she retorted.
"Yeah, okay fine. I met her at that party and she told me about the auditions. I still had to go and try out like everyone else," you said defensively.
"Hell, if I got a bunch of jobs and money from fucking some woman my mom's age, I'd do her too," Raven's tone was snarky. Everyone else grew quiet.
"Just go back to insulting me, okay? Leave my girlfriend out of this," you told her, eyes narrowing.
"Uh, we should go back," Axel interrupted, "it's been an hour".
"Sure, let's go," you agreed, happy to get away from Raven. You walked back in silence, and you went right to your trailer where Helena was.
"How was your walk?" she asked once you got inside. Before answering, you snuggled next to her on the couch, resting your head in her lap.
"Axel and Penny are cool," you began.
"At least you like two of them. Did something happen with Raven?"
You nodded. "She's a bitch".
"What did she do?" your girlfriend asked, stroking your hair comfortingly.
"She said that I only got this job because of you. She also said some shit about that the only reason I'm with you is for money," you answered honestly.
"She said what? How dare she, she knows nothing about us!" she exclaimed.
"That's what I was thinking".
"I'm sorry she's mean. At least you get along with two of your costars," she pointed out.
"I'm really glad you're here. Thanks for always comforting me," you reached up to touch her face. She blushed at the unexpected compliment.
"Of course, my love".
She leaned down to kiss you, and you held her face to pull her closer. The kiss deepened, her tongue pushed inside your mouth. You allowed her to explore your mouth, and her hands moved to your shoulders, pushing you down on the couch. You moaned as she got on top of you, not breaking the kiss. There was a quick knock on the door, but you didn't have enough time to get off each other before Stan walked in.
"Oh god, I'm sorry. Take your time," he said, leaving quickly. You and Helena burst out laughing but stopped kissing to sit up.
"Sorry," she said, an embarrassed blush on her cheeks.
"Don't apologize," you told her, "but I am gonna have trouble focusing the rest of the day".
"I promise we'll finish this later," she put her hand on your leg.
"I'll remember that".
"Now, we should go get Stan and make sure he isn't too traumatized," she joked, getting up off the couch.
"Wait, Hellie?"
"Yeah?" she asked, standing in front of you so she was looking at you.
"I kind of just realized that I haven't met any of your friends. There's not a reason for that right?"
"What kind of reason? We've just been busy, you know that," she explained gently.
"Yeah I know. Sorry, I was just overthinking and I got scared that maybe you didn't want me to meet them".
"Oh baby of course not," she took your hand, "when we get back to London, we'll have a party and you can meet all my friends. Trust me, I want to show you off," she said.
You smiled. "Ok". You kissed her quickly, then took her hand to go outside.
Authors note: now that we're on season 3, I ask my mom if we can watch The Crown every single night and I think she's getting suspicious. But she said I remind her of Margaret in the morning so I consider that the highest compliment!
