You waved over the bartender and ordered a drink. You needed it before you even started speaking to your ex.
"Why did you want to meet?" you asked, "I'm glad you called".
"I don't even know. I just saw you were in town and I jumped on the chance to see you," she answered honestly.
"I'm glad. I still feel bad about the way I left things," you explained, "when I got that job in London, I jumped at the chance to leave".
"Was life really that bad here?" she asked nonchalantly. Your eyes narrowed on her and you could feel your blood boil. You took another sip of your drink before answering the ignorant motherfucker.
"I'd just consider being in the same country as my mother far too close. She actually came to visit me a couple of months ago," you said, trying to seem calm.
"Oh, shit she did? What did she want?" Rachel asked, intrigued.
"Just to tell me how disappointed in me she is and how disgusting my relationship with my girlfriend is".
"Oh right, I saw on Instagram that you're dating someone," she said, her attempt to pretend she didn't care failed.
"Yeah, she's great".
"I just can't believe you're dating Helena Bonham Carter. You really liked her. Remember you made me watch Oceans 8 like a hundred times?"
You laughed. "It's a great movie," you explained, "really good plot". Rachel laughed.
"You even had that poster of her in your room. Her character from Fight Club smoking a cigarette".
"I still have that poster," you admitted, "not that I need it".
"Tell me," Rachel said coyly, "is she the one who gave you these". She pointed to your neck, and you touched your lovebites gently.
"Yes, she did," you said, blushing slightly. Your ex made this judgmental little smirk. She fucking asked!!! you thought, annoyed. You deciding to change the subject, hoping she would stop being a bitch if she was talking about her life. "So how have you been?" you asked.
"I'm great!" she exclaimed, "I got a job at the New York Times".
"You did?!? Rachel, that's amazing". You knew that was always her dream job, and she took her journalism major very seriously back in college.
"I'm not editor or anything, but it's still something," she explained.
"You can only work your way up," you said supportively.
The nicer I am, maybe the sooner I can leave and be home with Hellie. I wonder what she's doing now? you thought, leading you into fully zoning out.
"Y/n?" Rachel called, snapping you back into the present.
"Yes? What? Hi..." you said awkwardly, and she shook her head.
"Anything else new with you?" you asked her.
"I'm not seeing anyone if that's what you're asking," she retorted.
"No, I wasn't".
"Y/n," she said, turning towards you, "I haven't been able to get over you".
"Rachel, you'll find someone. We were a great couple, but we weren't meant to be".
"And you and Helena are?" she asked sharply.
"Yes, I think we are. But trust me, you'll find someone. The city is a big place," you insisted.
"I thought you wanted to apologize to me for leaving. There's no better way than taking me back," she said, desperate.
"I'm sorry," you got up to leave, "I can't. I do really apologize for what I did. You helped me through a lot and you didn't deserve it. I was just so excited to leave the country".
"Well, I guess I'm glad I got to see you one last time".
"Me too," you told her, "thanks for texting".
"Anytime".
You went right home to see Helena, to kiss her like you've wanted to do all evening. As soon as you opened the door to the apartment, you saw her laying on the couch, watching tv. She looked so cozy snuggled up with a blanket, and you stared at her for a moment.
"This is the second time you're staring at me today. Well, that I know of," she joked once she noticed you in the doorway. You giggled, walking into the apartment.
"It's not my fault you're the cutest woman alive," you insisted. She laughed, and gestured for you to sit down with her. You laid down on her, your head on her lap. She began to stroke your hair gently, then kissed the side of your head, her featherlight lips on your skin sending shivers down your spine. She was watching one of those home improvement shows, and you felt so content just to relax with her for the rest of the night.
"So, how was everything with Rachel?" she asked a few minutes later, probably when her curiosity got the best of her.
"Ugh, it kinda sucked," you began dramatically, making her giggle, "but at least I said everything I wanted to say".
"I'm glad," she took your hand, "are you planning on staying friends? I don't mean to sound possessive or anything, just curious".
"No, we aren't, I couldn't wait to get out of there," you said with a laugh, "and don't worry, I like it when you get a little possessive. I think it's hot".
She laughed. "Good". She cupped your face in her hands and kissed you. You got up so you were sitting next to her to kiss her deeper.
"All night I couldn't stop thinking about how badly I want to kiss you," you told her, breaking apart when you had to.
"I like that," she blushed, touching your face again.
"I missed you".
She giggled. "You were out for two hours".
"Are you saying you didn't miss me?" you asked with a pout".
"Of course I did". She lifted your chin up to kiss you again.
She put her hands on your shoulders, pushing you up against the back of the couch. As your kiss heated up, she put her legs around you, sitting on your lap. You kissed her like you needed her to breathe, her tongue slipping inside your mouth. You wrapped your hands around her neck, pulling her closer. She started to grind her hips against your lap, making you moan into the kiss. You could feel a wet spot from underneath her panties, and all you wanted to do was please you. You were about to move her so you were laying on the couch, but then your phone beeped, signaling you had gotten a text.
Your girlfriend groaned at the distraction. Seeing her disappointment, you cupped her face in your hands so she had no choice but to look at you.
"I'm not getting it," you told her, "all I want to do is be with you. I don't need anyone else".
She blushed, but shook her head. "I appreciate that, but it's probably Jane. You said you were meeting your castmates on Monday, which is a busy time when filming".
"You're so smart," you said, making her smile as you got up to check your phone.
"Once you answer, I promise we'll get right back to doing what we were doing" she smirked. Distracted by her cute smirk, you opened your phone without actually checking who was texting you. Once you opened your messages, you saw that Rachel had sent you five pictures. Confused, you opened your texts with her. As soon as you did, you were frozen in shock. Never, ever had you expected for your ex, the one who you were clearly over, to send you nudes, especially when you were with someone else.
Seeing the shocked look on your face, Helena got up.
"Y/n, what's wrong?" she asked. Her voice snapped you out of your shock, but you didn't have enough time to shut your phone before she saw. Her face fell, and she quickly got up from the couch.
"Helena wait," you called, following her as she walked into your bedroom, "I promise I didn't ask her for that".
"Whatever," she said shortly. She grabbed a bag and started packing a pair of pajamas and clothes.
"Hellie, you believe me, don't you? I love you more than anything and I'd never do that to you," you cried. She shut the bag aggressively and walked towards the door to leave the apartment.
"I- I don't know. Yes, I think I believe you. I have no reason not to, you've been nothing but good to me," she reasoned.
"So you'll stay?" you asked.
She shook her head. "I love you, but I need space".
"Where will you be? How do I know you'll be okay?"
"I've lived on my own year before you were even born," she retorted, but continued once she saw your hurt expression, "I'll call you tomorrow. We can talk then".
You nodded. "Okay, I understand. Just know I love you," you said, taking her hand.
She gave you a sad smile, then walked out the door, leaving you alone.
Authors note: it'll get better I promise. Thank you to everyone who asked about my surgery, I'm doing really well! Love all you guys💖
