Danielle tried committing again. She slit a few veins with a scalpel a doctor left in plain sight. Jaime was the one to call me and pass on the news. Things don't look too good for her. Hospitalization is one thing, but now they're considering a therapist and if released she'd have to be watched 24/7. The last option is an asylum, and that's the last thing Vic wants.
I told him I'd be willing to have her over whenever he was busy. I let him know that he does have a friend who can help him through all of this. Supposedly, Danielle's bright attitude changed also. I hadn't seen her since that night at the bar and I'm afraid to. Sure, I made Vic a promise but I don't want to see her when she's most likely strapped down to a bed like some wild animal. It'd be an image I wouldn't be able to shake.
I hum along to Linkin Park who are currently playing in the shop. With all of this going on I knew I had a job to do. Jeff knows my situation, but needs help at the shop. My next client should be coming in any second now.
A girl, probably sixteen and a mother enter the shop. This has to be them. The mom is a stereotyped white woman. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and has on work clothes. Her daughter is the complete opposite, jet black hair, brown eyes, and wears all black. She must have her Dad's looks.
"I can help you over here," I say and they both make their way over to the counter.
The mother speaks, "We have an appointment."
"Name?"
I already know the answer but I need to make sure these were the right people.
"Dawn Avery."
"Okay so I'm assuming that is you." I point to the daughter and she smiles. "So since you're obviously underaged, Mom, I'm gonna need you to sign some paperwork."
She only nods her head nervously, taking the clipboard I hand her. They both sit, filling the form out together.
As that was going on my phone goes off, a text, from Jaime.
'As soon as you're off go to Vic's. He really needs us rn.'
I sigh before letting him know I'd be there. It's sorta like deja vu in a way, Kyle, my brother, used to hurt himself a lot. When I got the news that he had passed away I immediately thought he did it to himself, but that wasn't the case. Instead it was a bullet that his 'friend' placed in his heart. He's in prison now, pled guilty.
It really made me wonder why he was so quick to give in. I don't get people who just throw their life away and result to doing drugs and crime. The look on that guy's face in the jury house proved just how sick and crazy people can really be.
"Here you go miss." The mom gives me the filled out form.
After skimming I nod my head.
"Right this way Dawn."

I park in my driveway and walk quickly to Vic's house. Jaime and Mike's cars are already outside. Without knocking, I open the door. Alysha spots me and takes my hand. She leads me to the living room where everyone else is. It's intense, being here makes me feel uneasy. I give Vic a hug before sitting down next to Jaime.
"You guys know I'm not a religious freak, so praying isn't normal for me, not alone at least," Vic begins. "I want to pray now for Danielle."
Everyone bows their heads and Jaime holds my hand as we go through the prayer. I'm distracted, not only because neither am I a religious freak, but it doesn't feel right for me to be here. I feel as if I don't belong. I was the last person she talked to before trying to commit. What if it was my fault?
