Danielle wants to see me. Yes me, personally. I'm scared, yet flattered in a way. She hasn't asked for Vic this past week like she did previous ones, but me. The doctors were just happy to get some different demands from her, so I'm obligated to go. Plus, I'm allowed to.
I didn't tell Tony, nobody else either, well except for Vic. He's totally fine with me going too. I asked if there was anything he wanted me to tell her for him, but he refused. She wants to see you for a reason, leave me out of it, He said.
After throwing on my shoes and telling fake plans to Tony, I'm on my way to the hospital. The drive there is quick, too quick. I nearly back out of the visit but I know it has to happen. I already talked to the doctors, so they're expecting me.
I park and enter the cold building. The lady at the front desk immediately questions my reason for being here. After telling her I was directed to a different part of the building. It was more compact and cleaner, if that's even possible.
I approach the desk where I'm supposed to go. The man there tells me Danielle's room number, only down the hall. All of these rooms I pass are doorless, the only privacy they have is a curtain. I keep my eyes straight, not letting curiosity getting the best of me. I stop at the last door, preparing myself to see the worse before walking in.
She's asleep, for the moment. As soon as I sit down on the chair beside the bed, her eyes open. She looks at me, her lips part like she wants to say something but can't. I get up and approach her bed. There are still bandages around her wrist and she's definitely strapped down. Her neck isn't badly bruised, but you can tell something happened there.
"I came." I smile through tears that were begging to fall.
"Thanks. I wish you didn't have to see me like this," She sighs.
"It's okay, I've seen crazier," I joke wiping my eyes. I use the remote that controls her bed to sit her up.
She smiles, but it slowly fades. "Audrey you need to leave."
"But I just got here." I'm confused.
"No, not like leave here. But leave that house, or San Diego all together. You're not safe here." Tears begin to flood her eyes.
"What are you talking about?" I wipe her eyes for her.
She begins breathing really hard and starts mumbling things I can't understand.
"Danielle, talk to me!" I beg.
"Miss, what are you doing?" A new voice comes from behind me. The nurse catches a glimpse of Danielle and pushes me aside.
Next thing I know I'm getting pulled out of the room and being put into the waiting area.
"I have to go see her!" I try to get pass the guy, but he blocks my way.
"Just go home, she's not stable right now. Until she is, then you can see her, maybe."
So I sit there, for hours. I need to know what she wanted to tell me. Why would I need to leave San Diego? It doesn't make any sense.
Suddenly, Vic emerges from around the corner. I've never been more relieved to see one person in my life. I get up and approach him.
"What's going on? Is she okay? Can I see her?" I question.
"No, but I can. But before I go in there I need to know exactly what happened. Nobody's telling me anything out there. I'm staring to freak out." I can see it all over his face.
"She was warning me and said I needed to leave San Diego. She was short of breath, it all happened so fast. Please ask her what she meant."
He only nods his head.
