Danielle's funeral is today. I was ready at least an hour before the services were supposed to start. I wondered if Vic was going to walk there, or if he was already there. I grabbed my small bag containing my phone, slinging it over my shoulder.
"You're leaving already?" Tony asked.
"Yea," I nodded my head. "I want to be there early."
"See you later."
The only reason he wasn't coming is cause I told him not to. He respected my request.
I exited the house. Yesterday, Lynn grabbed all her stuff and was out the door. She really liked Tony, obviously. I mean she was one of PTV's biggest fans. Besides all that, she was ecstatic to see that he was back. Even more thrilled to know he wasn't the one who put Danielle six feet under. I'd probably see her at the funeral.
I walked over to Vic's house to see if he was home. I knocked on the door and it opened moments later. He was dressed up, ready to go.
"I was wondering if you were gonna walk?" I spoke up.
He nodded his head, "Yea I was going to leave right now. Let's go."
The walk there was quiet, but I liked it. Upon our arrival, there were already a few people here. More like fans actually. Many came up to Vic, handing him flowers, saying sorry. While he greeted them all, I went into the cemetery. I noticed Danielle's grave would be right next to Tony's.
Her casket was a pearl white, with a red lacy design on the top. It was so... her. I took a seat in one of the chairs, waiting. Suddenly, the once vacant seat next to me is filled. Jaime lets out a sigh as he fixed his tie.
"Morning," I mumbled.
"Back at you." He sounded horrible.
I let my head rest on his arm. "I feel like such a hypocrite."
"Why?" He looked down at me.
"Because I always told myself I'd try to make the best out of funerals. Danielle's death really got the best of me."
"It's okay. We can't always keep it together, that's life."
"Yea, and life sucks."
He didn't say anything else. I looked behind us to see more people entering the cemetery. Alysha and Mike took seats next to us. When it seemed like there was truly enough people, the priest took his place in front of everyone. It was already quiet, but now I felt like it's a bunch of white noise.
"We are here today to remember and honor the life of Danielle Fuentes," he began.
I zoned out, not wanting to hear him refer to her in past tense. What if this was an actual suicide? Or what if someone did just decide to brutally murder her? None of it made sense. Danielle's was too young. My head began to hurt thinking about it. The image of her lying there in her own blood also came to mind.
"And now Vic Fuentes, her husband, will say a few words."
I began to pay attention. He got up from his seat and cleared his throat before speaking.
"I want to start off by saying thank you for coming. Without any of your guys' support I don't know where I'd be right now. Anyways, Danielle was not only my wife, but she was a friend. A good friend to me, and to most of you here today. She loved music, her favorite band... all of them." He shrugged smiling.
There was a good reaction from the crowd. Thank God he made me smile, otherwise I would've been already crying.
"She didn't deserve what happened. Her soul wasn't ready to be taken away. It was too wild and full of life. I only hope that she's much happier where she's at now. I love you Danielle and I'll never stop."
Now I'm crying...
>>>
Nearly everyone was gone. Vic and Mike sat with each other, talking. Alysha was being comforted by Jaime. Once again, I'm the odd ball out. Not wanting to feel like a creep, I began to walk around the cemetery. As I walked, I read names off of the tombstones, sending sympathy to them all.
"I hate funerals."
I turned to... Kyle.
I didn't react hesitantly, I couldn't, otherwise someone would notice.
"What are you doing here?" I whisper.
"Just checking in," he smirked. "Sorry about Danielle, and I'm being serious."
"Yeah, whatever."
"You think I did it, don't you?"
"I don't know, now leave. I can't stand to see you."
He sighed deeply, "You're way past your time limit, just saying."
"What are you gonna do?" I nearly snapped. "Kill me like you did to Daryl?"
"What are you-"
"Shut up. I know it was you. That crappy handwriting looked familiar and I figured it out. It's that same stupid handwriting you used to write that secret admirer note to me in seventh grade. I thought it was from Hunter, but it was really you messing with me."
"Okay, Nancy Drew, now what? Are you going to take me to the cops?" He taunted.
"No, but at least you confessed to killing Danielle."
"I did no-"
"So. You did so. The crime scenes from both Daryl and her are exactly the same."
He didn't argue, "She was being a bitch. You know I have a low tolerance for people like her."
"You're such an asshole," I muttered. "I won't ever forgive you for this. You managed to ruin my life. Well done, now you can leave me the hell alone."
I stormed out of the cemetery and ran home, tears blocking my sight. I needed to tell Tony sorry, for everything.
Once I made it to the driveway, I stopped to catch my breath. When I felt somewhat okay, I entered the house and Tony stood there to greet me. He smiled, but then saw my appearance and immediately looked worried.
"Kyle did it," I got out. "He killed Daryl and Danielle." I let myself fall to the floor and he came by my side.
I wanted to kill Kyle, but realized how stupid I sounded.
"We're going to do something," Tony spoke.
That's all I needed to hear.
