"Why don't we ever get along?"
Kyle shrugs his famous shrug. I roll my eyes and he chuckles at my annoyance.
"We're siblings," He says. "Do they ever get along?"
"We should be already past that stage. For crying out loud we're adults now, not teens. Shouldn't we be doing stuff together?"
"Like what?" He asks as if it isn't obvious.
"I don't know!" I suddenly yell. "Like go out for walks, talk shit about people we work with, anything."
"We're nothing alike Audrey. I hate everything you love. We always hit heads in any decision we try and make together. This isn't a phase anymore."
"I wish it was."
"Just remember I'm your older brother and no matter what happens, that can't change."
I half smile.
"Unfortunately."

Aud.
How could I not have figured it out before? It's obvious the more I think about it. "Devin" is similar to my brother in ways. Of course, I'm still in denial.
"No," I murmur still in disbelief. "Kyle died, he's gone."
Devin smirks.
"Sis, it's me."
"I don't believe you."
"What the hell Audrey, what do you want me to do? Recite your third grade diary? Cause I can, but I'd rather not. It's me."
"Then let whoever this guy is go. I want to see your face," I demand. He should be able to, shouldn't he? Why hold onto this body that isn't his?
"Can't do that," He shakes his head. "I'm not strong enough, but when I can, trust me, I will. This realm I'm stuck in is strange."
I don't know if I want to hug or kick the shit out of him. The features aren't him so how can I believe that it's him? My brother, who should be a goner.
"You're still shocked," He sighs. "It's me Aud."
The look in his eyes makes me realize that it is him after all. The guy I hate, yet love all at the same time. Isn't that how it always is? Is there really perfect siblings? I'll believe it when I see it.
"Kyle why are you here?" Is the first question that comes to mind.
"A brother can't say hello to his sister?"
"You're dead Kyle. This doesn't make any sense. You shouldn't be here right now."
"Neither should Tony but you don't have a problem with that, now do you?" He smirks, crossing his arms. He has to know way more than I think.
I ignore his last statement.
"Why'd you give me that dagger?"
"I can't be there all the time which is why I want you to protect yourself."
"From what?" It's a stupid question and he already told me, but I need to hear it again.
"Tony. You saw what he did to your poor friend Danielle."
"How long have you been spying on me?!" I push him getting heated. He has no right to tell me where I'm wrong or need to fix things. He never did it to me before he died, why now? Why does he choose to be the big brother now?
"Awhile, I'm surprised Tony hasn't told you about me yet. He must've thought you would freak."
"Tony knows about you?!" I yell in disbelief.
"You're definitely freaking out."
"Stop it Kyle, answer me."
"Yes, he asked you about me when you first got here, remember? You being your little stubborn self didn't want anything to do with me. Of course, that didn't stop Tony from looking for me. He found me, and wasn't satisfied with what he got. No one else knows me better than you do so you can imagine why."
"Why would he keep you a secret?" I think out loud.
"He has a lot of secrets Audrey. But I'm in no position to tell you anything. I'd rather let him tell you."
"What the hell are you talking about? I know everything. Tony fessed up to his wrongs." Hasn't he?
He goes to talk but I speak up.
"Stop. I don't want to hear anymore Kyle."
"Then I guess I'll save it for another day. You might wanna get home before Tony gets worried. See you tomorrow Aud."
He walks off, hands in his pockets, leaving me speechless. What can Tony possibly be hiding from me?
>>>
I lay down next to Tony, his eyes following mine. He smiles and I weakly return it. He doesn't suspect anything, yet. I plan to keep it that way, just until I find out what the hell is going on myself. I thought I was done playing this mystery game. I thought I had figured out the mystery that is Tony Perry.
"Where did we leave off earlier?" He smirks grabbing my waist, pulling me closer.
"Not tonight," I yawn. It scares me that were even this close. Should I really let Kyle get inside my head like this?
He gives a pouty face.
"But you promised."
"Well something happened between now and then."
"What?" He questions, amused. He probably thinks I'm teasing.
"Mother nature," I lie.
He goes to say something but stops himself.
"Oh. Well are you working tomorrow?" He drops the subject.
"Yes, I am."
I don't know whether to fall asleep or question him. Why didn't he tell me about Kyle? All he had to say was that he found him and understood why I didn't want to see him. End of story.
Wasn't that the whole reason he revealed himself to me in the first place? Yea, I was broken but it wasn't because of Kyle. Life got the better of me. Everything became too much in San Francisco, that's why I wanted to leave. Sure Kyle's passing was upsetting but it was also a relief. Sounds really fucked up, but it's true.
"You're thinking," Tony interrupts my thoughts. "What about?"
"Nothing major. What are you thinking about?" I try to change the subject.
"You," He says making me blush. "Your eyes, that smile, everything."
I roll my eyes before facing the wall. "Tony can I ask you something?"
"I'm all ears." He pulls me closer to him, we're practically spooning now.
"Did you ever find Kyle?" If he lies to me, then I'll know something is up. Please, don't lie to me Tony.
Silence.
"No," He sighs. "I tried for awhile but eventually gave up. I'm sorry."
"Don't be," I murmur.
Kyle isn't lying, this is a shocker.
What are you keeping from me Tony?

ohhh snap.
