~ Artemisia's POV ~

I wonder if this was how my father felt moments before battle. Anxiousness ate away at my body. I fidgeted constantly while readjusting my grip on the hilt of the sword. I wiped away the sweat that laced my brow. My breath drew ragged.

Time seemed to pass so slow in these moments. I thought of my fathers last words to me and wondered if those would be the last words I would ever speak to Tommy and Tubbo. I could die out here. I thought of Techno, and wondered if I would never get the chance to tell him that I loved him. I glanced down at the necklaces on my neck that still glowed brightly.

I could hear the sound of the war drums harmonizing together in the distance, getting closer with each second that passed. After a few moments, they stopped. The thick foliage outside the gates covered any sight. All I could hear was my deep breaths as the world went silent.

Men came flying out of the foliage left and right, swords lifted high into the sky. The distinct sound of metal on metal erupted all around me. A sword came swinging my way and I lifted my own to meet theirs. My sword clashed with his. I took him down swiftly before moving to the next. I heard screams ring out from behind me.

I flew around to see L'manburg beginning to erupt into flames. The screams were all to familiar. I fought along side the other soldiers, taking down man after man, desperate to win this war. We were getting pushed back until we were completely within the walls of L'manburg while we continued to fight.

I took down the next man that came after me with his sword. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flash of bright light. On top of one of the buildings stood Dream. Using his powers to destroy houses and shops. He wanted chaos.

I outstretched my hand and tossed a ball of fire hitting him directly in his side. He flew to the ground but scrambled to his feet quickly. He looked around confused, before his eyes met mine. Everything seemed to go silent again as I looked into the green eyes of the man who terrorized my nights. Only this time, I was witnessing the cruelty behind them in person, in reality. My breathing picked up quickly as we stared at each other. He clenched his jaw before throwing icy rays of light towards me.

We continued like this. Battling back and forth in the middle of the downtown streets of L'manburg. Walls burned brightly on all sides of us. Men connected swords, the metal sound ringing in my ears. Deafening screams came from the citizens caught in the crossfire. I tried to tune it all out, but failed. A ray of light slammed into my shoulder and I was thrown backwards.

I lolled my head to the side. Pain shot down my entire body. I groaned out in agony. I looked up to notice Dream above me, sword raised.

"Good try." He chuckled. He swung his sword down and I closed my eyes.

Stay safe, my boys.

I love you, Techno.

I'll see you soon dad.

I waited for death. I waited for the never-ending black void that I was now destined for. Dream would show no mercy. But it never came. I opened my eyes to see Techno tackling Dream, Dreams sword flying from his grasp. They hit the ground hard. Punches were thrown left and right between the two.

Dream got the upper hand a threw Techno to the side, with his power, it sent him flying against a far wall. I pushed myself off the ground as Dream stalked over to Techno, ready to finish him off. He held up his hand, gathering another ball of light.

My turn.

I let out a cry as I threw my own streak of flames at Dream tossing him to the side. I caught Techno's eyes. I breathed heavily. He smiled slightly, and I began to run over to him. He shook his head slightly.

"Im okay! Go!" He yelled at me while struggling to stand up. I didn't want to leave him but I needed to finish this fight. I turned just in time to see another ray of light flying towards me. I shut my eyes tightly as created a small bubble around myself, remembering my training, and the light dissipated as it reached the circle.

The tense battle broke out between Dream and I once again. I glanced to back to where Techno once was, seeing as he was now gone, I assumed he made it back to battle safe. I turned my attention back to Dream and continued to throw more fire in his direction.

A large building to my right suddenly collapsed, tossing up dust and rocks and clouded my vision. Once it cleared, Dream was gone. I turned around in circles. Where had he gone? I didn't have long to think before a sword came swinging my way. I quickly dodged it and used my power to fling the man away.

I looked around noticing the opposing soldiers begin to fall back. I panted hard trying to regain my breath. Techno came up beside me, noticing the same thing I did. I saw Wilbur and Fundy not too far away from us dropping their swords to their sides. We did it. We pushed them back. I knew they'd come again, but it gave us time.

I turned to Techno with a weary smile. He returned it, but only for a moment. His face fell as he looked to my chest. I furrowed my eyebrows. I wasn't hurt, why is he concerned?

"T-Temi." He trailed off. I followed his gaze to my chest. The two lifelines that hung around my neck were flickering. The sounds of the world began to fade away as I watched the lights flicker every few moments.

"Artemisia." A loud voice boomed a distance away to my right. I turned my head and felt every inch of happiness I have ever felt slip from my heart.

Dream stood there, the fire illuminated the surroundings behind him. In front of him stood Tommy and Tubbo, clearly frightened and bloody. He kicked the back of their legs and shoved them to their knees, keeping his hands on one of their shoulders, and gave me an evil smirk.

My boys.
