A Million Little Secrets- Josh Richards

I wake up to my alarm at 7:15. First day of school, great. I have moved a lot. It's hard for my mom to keep a job, but she's trying and i'm grateful for that. I get out of my bed and quickly take a shower because my hair is really greasy. Once I got out, I changed, did some light make up (Mascara, blush, concealer and highlighter) and blow dried my hair.

I run downstairs yelling for my mom.

Me: Mom?!? Mom?!?

I then realize that she told me last night she had on early shift. So, I was home alone. I made my self a cup of coffee and some toast. I'm really scared for the new school, but who wouldn't be? It's normal, right? Any ways, the school told me that someone would be waiting at my locker to show me around at the school. So hopefully I will have at least 1 friend? I finished my coffee and toast and head out the door. I play some music to hopefully calm me down, but it didn't work. I was still really nervous. I pulled into the parking lot of the school and just sat in my car for a couple of minutes. i new I had to go in, but I really didn't want to. I finally gained the courage to walk into the school. I stopped at the entrance and took a long, deep breath before walking into the school. As soon as I walk in, I am greeted with a bunch of people staring at me. I couldn't really tell how they where looking at me cause I kept my head down scared that if I looked up, I would be stared down by evil looks. Last night they sent me my locker number so I walked there as fast as I could. As soon as I found it, I saw a very pretty, kind looking girl standing there. She looked at me and smiled, making me feel a lot better. 

Girl: Hi, are you Samantha?

*I nod*

Me: Yeah, are you my tour guide?

*She laughs*

Girl: You can call me that! I'm Charli by the way!

*She held her hand out for me to shake and I did*

Charli: Well, why don't we start our tour and our friendship!

*I laugh*

Me: Sure, lets go!

How close could I possibly get to this girl? We start walking around and she talks, a lot! But I like it! I don't really talk a lot so having a friend that does talk a lot is good for me. Maybe I can actually have a friend here, maybe even a best friend? 

Charli: So, what about you? Why'd you move?

*I sigh*

Me: Well, my mom lost her job so she had to get a new one and there where a couple openings over here. I'm an only child and my life is pretty boring!

I lied. My life is anything but boring. Charli giggles.

Charli: Well, class is starting there so I'll show you there! We have the same schedule so even if you like me or not, your stuck with me!

*We both laugh*

Me: Thanks! It's hard being the new girl but people like you make it SO much easier!

*She smiles*

Charli: I think we will become best friends!

I just hope I don't push her away like everyone els, but that's a slim chance. Me and Charli where walking to class, me following her behind her. 

Charli: Do you need a job? Not trying to be rude it's just that I work at this little coffee shop and I would really love to have a friend there so i'm not alone!

*I laugh*

Me:I have a job but thanks! What about your other friends?

*She sighs*

Charli: Well my sister, Dixie, is in I guess you can call them the popular group and people use me to get into the group. They always leave me so I don't really have any friends, or real ones anyways!

I feel bad for her. It's horrible when people use other people. I can tell it kinda hurts her to talk about it but she puts on a fake smile to try and hide it. She then looks at me and shifts her head to the side.

Charli: I know your not the same as them though, i can tell!

*I laugh*

Me: Thanks!

We then continue to walk to class. I wish I could be as open as Charli is. It's just so hard for me to trust people other than my mom. I push everyone away but I feel like Charli will stick around for a while.

A/n: First chapter! I love this book so far so i'm really excited to finish writing yet!
