After a while, we made our way to the dance floor and we all danced for a while. Then, a slow song came on. Josh grabs my waist and i wrap my arms around his neck. He smiles at me and I can't help but chuckle a bit. He softly presses his lips on mine and then rest's his forehead on mine while we move our bodies to the slow beat of the music.
Josh: You know, you are the strongest, kindest person I know. I love you.
*I laugh*
Me: Thank you, but it sounds like your saying goodbye?
*He smiles at me softly.*
Josh: I will never say goodbye to you, I promise.
*I smile and let out the breath I didn't know I was holding until now.*
Me: I promise to never say goodbye to you.
*He smiles and kisses me again. I kiss him back and we pull away smiling and laughing. We continue to move our bodies to the slow music along with the other couples on the dance floor. It was definitely a moment to remember. Then I hear someone behind me say:*
Random person: Have you told her yet Josh?
*I turn my head around only to see Nessa, Olivia and Cynthia. I mentally role my eyes and look at Josh.*
Me: Told me what?
Nessa: Oh, so you haven't?
*She chuckles*
Nessa mumbles: This will be fun!
Josh: Nessa...
*She shrugs*
Nessa: What? You don't want her to know? I'm sure if she really loves you she will stay with you!
*At this point I am really confused. Nessa takes a sip from her drink with a smile on her face with out breaking eye contact with Josh who's jaw is clenched. Nessa then looks at me and her smirk only grows*
Nessa: I might as well tell you!
Josh quickly says: Nessa don't!
*She chuckles and then looks at me again.*
Nessa: You where a bet.
*I slowly scrunch my face together feeling my eyes water.*
Me: What?
*She laughs*
Nessa: Josh was dared to date you until graduation! And if he did, they all would pay him 100 bucks.
*I look at Josh with glossy eyes*
Me: Is that true?
Josh: Sam....
Me: Oh my god! It is!
*I pull out of his grip and place my hands over my stomach feeling sick and letting a couple tears fall down my face. He tries to grab my hand but I pull it away from his reach.*
Josh: Sam-
*I cut him off*
Me: Don't!
*I slowly back away from him and as soon as he takes a step towards me, I dash out the door. I run onto the front lawn where Mads, Jaden, Charli and some other people are. Josh follows me out yelling my name as he does. He grabs my wrist causing me to turn around. I quickly take my hand away from his grip, full on crying now.*
Josh: Sam just let me explain!
Me: Answer the damn question Josh! Am I a fucking bet!
Josh: Sam-
*I raise my voice a bit:*
Me: Am I a fucking bet! Yes or no!
*He lets a tear fall down his face and nods his head.*
Josh: Yes, but pleas-
*I cut him off again*
Me: I don't want to fucking hear anything else. That right there, just ruined our relationship!
Josh: Baby please!
*I shake my head letting more hot tears race down my cheeks. I look at Jaden, Mads and Charli*
Me: You guys knew didn't you?
*Charli quickly shakes her head no and Jaden and Mads just stand there looking down at the ground. I let out a painful laugh with more tears streaming down my face. I look at Josh and point to the both of us.*
Me: Whatever the fuck this was to you, it's over. We're over.
*He shakes his head letting tears race down his cheeks that match mine.*
Josh: Please baby, don't do this!
*I look at Jaden*
Me: Drive them home, drop the keys off on my porch and leave. Don't even fucking bother apologizing to me!
*He nods and as I start walking away, Josh starts talking again:*
Josh: Please don't do this Sam!
*I look at him and shake my head*
Me: No, you don't get to do this! You knew how broken I was! You know things about me I have never trusted anyone with but you still went along with your little game not giving 2 shits if you hurt me! Hey, I hope you win the bet though!
*He shakes his head while crying and I start to walk away again, wiping my tears.*
Charli: Wait! Where ever your going, i'm coming!
*She runs over to me and we walk down the sidewalk, away from the house. As we wait for the uber, I look at her with my teary eyes.*
Me: Did you know?
*She shakes her head and looks at me with sympathy.*
Charli: If I did, I would have told you right away.
*I nod and she hugs me while I breakdown in her arms. Why the fuck was I so stupid to believe that he could ever love me?
