C *20*

After Ken regained his strength and his temperature became lower, he decided to go back to school.

The nurse checked Ken again to assure that he's really okay before she let Ken and I leave.

"Maraming salamat po. Mauna na po kami," Ken bid goodbye.

Ms. Cha—the nurse shook her head many times, "Wag ka sa akin magpasalamat," then she turned her eyes on me, "Sa girlfriend mo ikaw magpasalamat. Siya ang nag-alaga sayo," she completed her sentence with a smile plastered in his lips.

I felt my forehead folded, "Pardon me? I'm not his girlfriend," I intruded into their conversation.

"Ah hindi ko po siya girlfriend," Ken politely said.

Ms. Cha alternately looked us with confusion visible in his face, "Hindi kayo magkasintahan?" she unbelievably asked, then her eyes stopped on me, "Pero kung makatitig ka sa kaniya kanina ay parang SIYA na ang pinakagwapong lalaki sa iyong paningin."

"Hey! What are you talking about!" I exclaimed.

"Kanina nong natutulog siya," he swiftly looked at Ken then back to me, "Tinititigan mo ang buong katauhan niya. Tinanggal mo pa nga yung eyeglass niya tapos doon nagtagal ang iyong tingin e. Iba ang kislap ng iyong mata kapag siya na ang iyong nakikita. Kakaibang kakaiba talaga ang tingin mo. Parang tingin ng isang inlove na—"

"What the heck! I wasn't staring at him! And what did you say? My eyes glitter everytime my eyes are nailed to him? No! You're just imagining things! And to make everything clear for you, I am not in love with anyone because that will never happen! Don't you know me? I'm Charlyn Zhasha Valdez known as Playgirl in this school so what you are saying is impossible and untrue!" I straightway said, defending myself. After that, I gasped, catching my breath.

They startled at my voice and abruptly answered.

I held Ken's hand and walked away from that nurse, leaving her astonished.

'Kinginang nurse na yun! Pinapahiya ako! Buset! Nahuli niya pa akong tinititigan itong lalaking kasama ko! Tsk! Masyadong chismosa! Kung ano-ano pa sinasabi! Mas marunong pa kaysa sa akin! Tangina talaga!'

We stopped in our room and let go of his hand. The first teacher in the afternoon was already teaching in front.

I was about to knock when there was a hand holding my shoulder.

I glanced at Ken and my eyebrows met when I saw that he was staring at me, "What?" I asked, "You believe what that nurse said?"

His forehead creased, "Huh? Hindi."

"Then why are you staring at me and stopping me from doing what I was about to do?"

He took his hand off me, "Ano kase yung—"

"What? Can't you say it faster?" I interrupted, can't wait anymore.

"Hindi rin tayo makakapag-aral dahil yung bag natin nasa clinic."

My eyes widened, "What?!" I checked his back and mine too and he was right. We don't have a bag on our back, "What the hell."

"Balik na lang tayo doon," Ken suggested and I immediately looked at him.

"What? No!" I disagreed.

'I don't want to go back there! Never! That's suicide!'

"Pero paano tayo makakapag-aral ng maigi kung wala ang mga gamit natin?"

I thinked for a moment, "I will ask someone to get our bag."

Precisely, there's a guy walking near to our position. I walked up to him but he didn't feel my presence.

"Hi," I greeted with a wide smile forming on my lips.

He stopped then turned his eyes on me. He was shocked when he learned that it's me.

"Hi," he shyly respond as he blushed.

'I guess this guy likes me.'

"Can you do me a favor?" I used my sweetest voice I was using to flirt.

He quickly nodded, "Oo naman. Ano yun?"

"You are going to get our bag to the clinic."

"Yun lang. Sige! Sige!"

I gave him a smile before he went off.

I came back to Ken, "I already asked someone to do that. All I have to do is to wait."

"Ah ganon ba?"

I nodded, "Aren't you hungry? We haven't had lunch yet."

"Medyo nagugutom lang. Pinakain mo kase ako ng mansanas kanina. Ikaw sigurado gutom na gutom ka."

"Ummm yeah. Let's go to the cafeteria and take a lunch while waiting for our bag."

"Sige."

We walked, heading the direction of the cafeteria. We straightly bought food before we searched for a table.

We started to eat the moment we sat and put the tray over the table. Minutes ago, we finished our food.

"I remember. Diba nagbabaon ka na ng lunch?" I asked while wiping my mouth using tissue.

Katulad na lang ngayon, wala akong baon na lunch," he explained even I didn't ask.

I nodded thrice, "You are the guy I was with here on the first day of school and witnessed how angry I was when I heard a group of girls talking about my Mom, right?"

"Oo ako yun. Sa totoo lang nagulat nga ako sa pagsugod mo sa kanila lalong lalo na sa pagsuntok," he said while staring at nothing, looks like he was reminiscing.

"Why were you shocked?"

"Syempre ang mga babae, hindi pagsuntok ang ginagawa kapag nakikipag-away. Kung ibang babae yun, malamang sampal ang ginawa at hindi katulad mo na suntok," he then looked at me.

"Tsk! Sa hindi ako nanampal. Mas gusto ko yung manuntok para mas dama yung sakit."

"Hahahahahaha!!!" the cafeteria covered with his laugh.

I scowled, "What are you laughing at?" I asked with my one eyebrow raised up.

"Ang astig mo lang kase."

"Tsk!"

"What is your first impression of me?" I curiously asked.

He took his eyes off me and shifted it to the wall, "Sa totoo lang marami akong naririnig tungkol sayo at lahat ay negatibo. Malandi ka raw, laging gulo ang hanap, salot sa eskwelahan na ito, masungit, hindi marunong maawa, walang galang, bastos na ampon, maldita, maarte at kung sino sino raw ang nakakagalaw sayo," sympathy written in his eyes so I looked away.

I felt his gaze on me but I refused to looked back, "Pero nong mapalapit ako sayo at nakakasama na kita, lahat ng mga negatibong sinasabi nila tungkol sayo ay kabaliktaran ng mga iyon. Siguro kung nakakasama ka nila ng madalas at kung nasa posisyon ko sila, magbabago ang tingin nila sayo. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, 'Ibang iba naman ang sinasabi ng mga tao sa nakikita ko sa kanya. Hindi naman siya masamang tao. Sa katunayan ay halimbawa siya ng isang mabuting tao."

I abruptly glanced at him and he was staring at me with a genuine smile forming in his face.

I didn't know why but I suddenly felt something that I can't explain.

'Pero sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam.'
