Demi's POV
"Bella, wake up." I say when I walk into her room. She's off her suspension from school and today is her first day back. She still doesn't have her phone or computer and she's still grounded, but I will be giving her phone to her when she's at school just in case she needs to get in contact with me. She doesn't know that yet though.
"Five more minutes." She mumbles.
"Fine, I'll be back in five minutes. You better be awake." I say leaving her room but not before turning the light on. I chuckle softly when I hear her groan. When I get back into my room, I finish getting ready for work.
"Okay, here's your phone." I say handing her phone to her when we pull up to her school. She looks up at me surprised and hesitantly takes it from me. "I will be taking it back when you get home, I am only giving it to you in case of an emergency and you need to get in contact with me. Matthew is going to pick you up from school today because I need to pick up an extra few hours from leaving early the other day. So, he will be bringing you to the diner." I say and she nods. "Go to your classes and stay away from that kid. I mean it Isabella." I say and she nods again.
"Okay." She says opening the door and getting out of the car.
"Hey, I love you." I say right before she goes to close the door.
"Love you too." She replies before closing it and walking into school. She's still a little upset with me, but she'll get over it.
Today has been hectic at the diner. I guess everyone decided today's the day to go eat here today because it's been one after the other and we're low staffed. We don't have many employees, but today was only myself, Sirah, and Gail as well as one more waiter that just got hired. He's actually really annoying, but hey, we needed the extra hands and I'm glad we had them today.
"Umm.. Demi... not to stress you out anymore then you already are, but Anthony just walked in." Sirah says walking in the back when I grab food to serve to a table.
"You've got to be kidding me. I really do not need this today." I mumble as I walk out and see him waiting at the counter. I roll my eyes and walk straight past him to serve the older couple their food.
"Demi, we need to talk." He says once I walk behind the counter to grab the pot of coffee.
"I'm busy." I mumble as I pour the coffee in a couple mugs. I then turn and grab a cup and fill it with ice and lemonade.
"Why hasn't Bella been texting me?" He asks and I roll my eyes.
"She got her phone taken away." I say as I walk away to serve people throughout the diner their drinks.
"Ma'am, can I have some more syrup. This bottle is out." A man calls out and I nod.
"Of course. I'm sorry about that." I say taking the bottle from him.
"Why'd she get her phone taken away?" Anthony asks when I go behind the counter again and I bend down to grab the big jug of Gail's famous syrup.
"She got in trouble at school. Skipping class and making out with a boy." I answer as I start refilling the syrup.
"Sounds like her mother." He says chuckling and I glare up at him quickly.
"I'm at my job Anthony." I warn and he just shrugs.
"It's not like you're gonna get fired. You've been at this same piece of shit since you gave birth." He says and I roll my eyes.
"Why'd you come here? You could have just called." I ask annoyed as I put the cap back on the jug as well as the bottle.
