The Doctor's POV

The Doctor stood, unable to move. Gallifrey was in front of her, just smoking ruins. The Master stood there, laughing while the Doctor couldn't do anything but stand watching her home crumble to ruins.

The Doctor closed her eyes, willing the nightmare to end. The Master's maniacal laughter boomed in her head, making tears well up in her eyes.

"DOCTOR!"

Screams for help suddenly overshadowed the laughter. The Doctor froze as she recognised the voice.

Yaz.

"DOCTOR! DOCTOR, PLEASE!"

"YAZ!"

The Doctor bolted up, tears flowing and her breathing uneven and shallow. Yaz was beside her, shaking her shoulders and shouting her name while Graham and Ryan looked on, faces of worry.

"Doctor!" Yaz exclaimed, hugging her tightly. The Doctor relaxed, her tears turning from panicked to relieved. Yaz was okay. It had been a nightmare.

But Gallifrey was still definitely not okay.

"What happened?" Yaz asked.

"Just a nightmare. It's fine, I have them all the time."

This only seem to increase Yaz's worry. "Doctor, what was it about?"

"Nothing," she said, definitely too quickly.

"Very well then..." Yaz said, settling back down and the boys leaving back to their own beds. The Doctor checked the time with her sonic – it was around two a.m.

Yaz's POV

"You're not actually okay, are you?" Yaz asked, back still turned to the Doctor.

"... no."

Yaz could hear the pain and sadness in that one word. She turned around and pulled the Doctor into her arms.

"I'm here. Whenever you need to talk. I'm here."

The Doctor rested her head in the crook of Yaz's neck. She took a deep breath and spoke.

"My planet was destroyed. All my family, friends – dead. Killed by my best friend."

Yaz gasped in shock and immediately understood the Time Lord's pain. Only, she couldn't possibly understand. And she knew that.

"Doctor... I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault," the Doctor managed to force out before collapsing into despair. Yaz pulled her infinitely closer as the Time Lord's body was wracked with sobs, trembling in her girlfriend's grasp.

Yaz didn't know how long they lay there, the Time Lord crying and Yaz trying to be strong, even though seeing her so upset made her heart break.

I'll be here for you, Doctor.
