A simple life 2...

Like nothing ever happened

*2 months later*

"Are you sure you're ready to go back into a work place?" Jay said seriously while buttoning up his shirt. Ivy laughed and smiled, "yeah, it'll be like nothing ever happened...". Jay turned to face her, "but things did happen Ivy, you can't just forget your past" he said with a half smile as he walked over to her and grabbed her waist, as he pulled her into a hug from behind they turned to face the mirror so she could straighten out her tie. "I know, but I gotta sort my life out. Hey look, at least I won't be boring to work with" she smiled at him while joking.

Jay was proud of her for graduating from the police academy once again, but he was terrified of losing her on the job. Even though she was just a patrol officer, for now, he knew she could still get shot. "True" he said while resting his chin on her shoulder. They stayed there holding each other for a few seconds before jays phone rang, they both jumped and let each other go. "Halstead...okay I'm on my way" he said before hanging up the phone. Ivy was in her police uniform ready for her first day on the job, and jay was just in plain work clothes. "That was Voight, they need me" he said while slipping on his boots, she nodded and walked out to the kitchen to make them both a coffee. A few seconds later and jay appeared, "you got a ride to the district?" He said as he grabbed his gun and badge.

She handed him his coffee and nodded, "yeah I'm all sorted" she said with a smile. He smirked at her and grabbed his jacket, "see you later then, I love you" he shouted as he opened the door. "love you too..." she shouted back as the door closed behind him. The two had learned that life was short, and since they were both working in such a dangerous job, they made sure they told each other how much they loved and cared for each other as much as they could. After Ivys past, they realised they were never guaranteed tomorrow so they made the most of every minute they had together.
