A simple life 2...

Yes!

                 Ivy couldn't really sleep too well since her arm was hurting, so when she woke up in the morning that was all she could think about.  "Everything okay?" Jay said while noticing she seemed distracted, she smiled and walked over to him.  "Yeah, my arms killing that's all" she answered truthfully.  Jay pulled her close, "maybe stay out of field work for today..." he said thinking she would turn down the offer.  She rested the back of her head on his chest, "I think I'm gonna have to" she said in clear pain and discomfort.  Jay gently touched the cut, his hands were warm and it soothed her pain a bit. 

            They went by their normal morning routine and arrived at the district, "morning" trudy said with a smile as the couple walked past them.  "Hey Trudy" the pair said in unison.  They all shared a smile before going their separate ways.  "Sarge I hate to say it but I don't think I'll be of much use today..." Ivy said while pointing to her arm.  Hank smiled and nodded, "no problem, just stay on desk duty till you're upto scratch" he said before explaining today's case.  "Seven year old boy taken from his home, footage shows three men dressed in all black snatching him up and driving off with him in a black Nissan pickup truck, illinois plates" he explained while placing the evidence onto the chalk board.  The unit nodded and worked on finding leads.

             "Woah I got something, traffic cams show that exact truck heading east on 114th street" Ivy said while sitting up in her chair.  Hank came out and nodded, "suit up" he said to the rest of the unit and left Ivy alone again.  She was kind of used to the silence by now, she followed up in the cams and kept eyes on the truck.  The unit were speeding around trying to get a visual on the van, "they're turning west on 98th" Ivy said into her radio hoping one of the team would respond.  "Copy that" hank said.  Ivy sat watching patiently as she saw the intelligence vehicles cornering off the truck, she slouched back down into her chair as she watched Kim lifting the young boy out of the car, Kevin and Adam arrested the guys and they all left the scene.

            Around half an hour later they arrived back, hank smiled at Ivy before wandering into his office.  The team had a smile on their faces since they caught the guys and the child got back to his parents safely, jay looked preoccupied in his own mind and Ivy was staring at him.  She couldn't figure him out, he got up and went into Voights office before closing the door behind him.

             "Hey sarge what're you doing tonight?" Jay said once the door was shut.  Hank looked at him like he had 6 heads, "nothing why?" He asked curiously.  Jay smiled and sat down, "would you be able to make it to mollys? I'm gonna propose..." he said straight up.  Hanks eyes lit up, he thought of jay as a son and Ivy was special, like a daughter.  "I'll be there" hank said as he stood up.  "Thanks Sarge, it'll mean a lot to her" jay said with a smile as the pair looked at Ivy through the glass.  They stood talking for a while before getting on with work.

              Jay left to go back to his desk, he needed to get the rest of the unit and Trudy to be there but he didn't know how to do that exactly.  Hank also realised what jay was thinking about, "Kate can you go down and get some more paper from trudy" hank said to Ivy as he stood in the doorway of his office.  Jay knew what he was doing so he didn't let on, "yeah sure sarge" Ivy said as she got up and left down the stairs.  Jay took this as his opportunity, "guys listen I'd really appreciate it if you could all get to mollys tonight after shift, it's kind of important" jay whispered.  The rest of the unit all looked around in confusion, "yeah sure, but why are we whispering?" Adam whispered back.  Jay laughed and shook his head, "just be there" he finished the debate just as Ivy reappeared again with some stacks of paper.

             She walked into hanks office and put the paper onto his desk, she smiled at her boss and walked back out but everyone was staring at her.  "What? Have I got something on my face?" She said while rubbing her cheeks.  Jay laughed and spoke for them, "no, no you're good" he smiled which signalled to the rest of unit to stop staring at her.  They finished up the days work at around 6:30pm, "alright guys head out" hank said clearly knowing what was about it go down.  The unit stood up, "see you all at mollys" hank added which made everyone confused apart from jay.  They all stared at their boss in disbelief, he never joined them for drinks, no one said anything but they nodded and left.

             As they all arrived at mollys everyone from firehouse 51 and med was there which was really strange, mollys was always busy but never this packed.  "Hey there he is!" Will shouted from a table, jay smiled and waved before leaving Ivy with severide and Kidd at the bar.  "Hey man, you got it?" Jay said quietly to Will.  Will smiled and pulled out a velvet ring box from his pocket, "good luck" Will said with a smirk.  Jay took the box from his hands and slid it into his pocket, he decided it was best to wait until everyone had a drink or two so they were more relaxed. 

             The crowd was full of happiness and love, jay grabbed Ivys hand and led her onto the stage which made her nervous.  "Can I have everyone's attention?" Jay said into the mic.  Ivy looked at the crowd with wide eyes, they were all familiar faces but a crowd that big was somewhat daunting.  The crowd and shushed up and turned to look in their direction, "Ivy Kate, you have brought happiness and love into my life that I never knew I had.  You make my heart dance everyday, you're beautiful, smart, funny and stubborn..." he started which made the crowd laugh in agreement.  Ivy didn't know where he was going with it all but she smiled and laughed at jay.  Jay turned to face her and took her hands in his as he put the mic back onto the stand, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you..." he added while getting down onto one knee.

             The crowd all gasped in excitement, Ivy smacked her hands onto her mouth as she realised what he was doing.  "Ivy kate, will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" He said with a nervous expression.  The crowd were all waiting in anticipation for her answer, "Yes!" Ivy said as she let tears of happiness flow down her face.  Jay stood up and picked her up into a hug, "I love you so much" she whispered into his ear.  He pulled away and smiled, "I love you more" he said while placing the ring onto her finger.  The crowd cheered and raised their glasses and bottles into the air, Ivy could see the unit smiling at her from the other end of the room, she saw hanks face beaming with joy.  The now engaged couple made conversation with everyone as they battled their way through the never ending crowd, "congratulations kiddo" hank said to Ivy as he pulled her into a warm hug.  "Thanks hank" she said with a smile and accepted the hug.  Jay talked to the boys and his boss whereas Ivy showed the girls her ring, "it's beautiful!" they all looked at it in awe. 

            The night went on for what seemed like forever before they all said their last wishes and headed out.
